we only stayed a few days in Cochi and felt extremly well. The house is idyllicly situated in an animated hood near by Fort Cochi. Jos and his wife are discreet but any question or request will be answered or meet. Some details - a welcome juice, a farewell sweet for instance - show how Jos takes care of his... More

When we booked this we knew it was a bit of traveling time to Fort Cochin but this turned out to be a bonus. It was a lovely peaceful location. Jos organised a nice canoe trip for us. A previous reviewer has mentioned there is only one restaurant nearby which is true but the restaurant was excellent and we happily... More

We spend 2 nights at Gramam Homestay (Room attached at owners house). After driving through Kochin Area we were positiv surprised about this lovely, calm place within coconut trees located with direct access to the backwaters. Jos was always a very helping hand and his wife a wounderful cook. We could order always our special wishes (Masala chai,Kerala breakfest,Special fish etc.)... More

Jos Byju organised our 16-day stay in Kerala and the three days we spent with him at Gramam Homestay were a wonderful beginning to our trip. We left Gramam with many happy memories of the peaceful surroundings and the beautifull job he's done of converting the old coconut factory into a spacious bedroom with living area, doors opening into the... Graman Homestay was a wonderful retreat from the constant bombardment that is India. We loved coming back to our retreat after touring Cochi. Jos arranged for a boat tour of the back waters where we saw abundant birds and met fishermen at work. Breakfasts were delicious and filling. The room was beautifully decorated and immaculate, and it was nice to... More

pros: clean, simple place to stay cons: very far from Fort Kochi, only 1 restaurant nearby, Jos is all about making money and not about taking care of his guests, paltry/miserly breakfast It is hard for me to believe the positive reviews were really written by anyone who really exists and stayed here More

Thanks for the pros: clean, simple place to stay - what most travelers like.... regarding cons: Distance to Fort Cochin is clearly mentioned on location page of website Besides the nearby restaurant dinner is prepared at homestay on early intimation. Do not expect anything free at a homestay. Hospitality does not mean charity. It requires money to maintain and exist.... More

This was my second visit after five years. And it was just as I remembered. The last time we stayed in the guestroom and on this occasion I stayed in the cottage. The cottage is spacious with an outdoor bathroom and a kitchen. In the morning I would open the doors and stare at the scenery from the comfort of... More

I was recommending the Ayurveda massage in the village only because it was nearby and something local. Regret it was not up to the mark... I fully agree with the comment of Mr. Shem, and would recommend in future, the one at Trident Hotel in Willington Island or other reputed places in Cochin... jos from gramam More

Gramam Homestay is a great place if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Fort Kochi. The cottage is separate from Jos’s house and all located in a coconut grove. Our flight arrived at 4.00a.m. and we were picked up as arranged with Jos by email with no problems. We didn’t realise that the dawn chorus... More

to get the most out of this location, stay put and enjoy! the breakfast is a major plus point and the family friendly and helpful. the sunset trip worth it but the prawn farm visit is less to rave about. only word of caution is if going into fort cochin for the day to take note of gramam's location/surrounding. its...
