The Pimenta cooking holiday was a wonderful experience! I stayed there for five days in February 2015 and enjoyed the lovely bungalows, peaceful garden setting, and excellent hospitality. Jacob, the host and owner, was very attentive and flexible in responding to what I was interested in cooking and what I was interested in exploring around the area. We visited several... More

We had a fantastic time at Pimenta. Jacob was a very kind and hospitable host. We enjoyed learning to cook meals, sharing the meals as well as relaxing. Would recommend this to anyone as an experience.

This small scale "retreat" was the **only** accommodation we had in India with proper mosquito screening in the bedrooms. The WiFi is excellent. Jacob's food is delicious and always freshly cooked. The location is very quiet. Jacob prefers Guests who stay several days at least, making for a serene and restful ambience.I might suggest Jacob have a local map ready for guests... More

My two friends and I decided to try a two day cook and stay at the Pimenta on our month long India trip. It was well worth the detour to Central Kerala. We stayed in a cozy bungalow surrounded by beautiful spice plants and greenery. Jacob was a wonderful host and guided us through two nights of cooking the most... More

I've never eaten so much wonderful vegetarian food in my life – let alone such great food cooked by myself! My mum and I spent four days at Pimenta with Jacob and during that time he made us feel like family, not just guests. Not only was the cooking great fun, I learned a lot about the spices we were... My wife and I spent four days at The Pimenta. Each evening we cooked our own meal under the supervision of Jacob Mathews. In all we prepared 18 different dishes and still have the recipe sheets with us. During the day Jacob, who speaks excellent English, took us out to lunch and to visit various places that without his inside... More

I wish I could eat more of the fantastic Indian food right now! We cooked pretty much everyday for the extended chef stay. Most of the prep work is done for you- for cooks this is very pleasant, but if you are here to learn basic cooking techniques- you don't really do chopping, measuring that sort of thing. We learned... More

If you are a novice cook who needs some help/guidance reading and following a recipe with unfamiliar ingredients, then you may enjoy this experience. However, if you are a competent and confident cook, then it will not be worth you spending your hard- earned cash on this. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer who stated it was not... More

We took our family of five for a three night stay at the Pimenta in March. We wanted to customize our trip to the interests of our group, and Jacob was more than willing to accommodate our requests. When I asked about transportation from the Port in Kochi he immediately arranged a driver for our entire stay. While the rooms... More

If like me, you like your journeys across the world to have their moments of spontaneity and intuitiveness with the potential to let yourself just "go with the flow", then The Pimenta is perfect. The lazy palms and turmeric plants grow quietly amongst the little abodes in which each guest rests and sleeps between all the fun and learning that... More
