I've never eaten so much wonderful vegetarian food in my life – let alone such great food cooked by myself! My mum and I spent four days at Pimenta with Jacob and during that time he made us feel like family, not just guests. Not only was the cooking great fun, I learned a lot about the spices we were... My wife and I spent four days at The Pimenta. Each evening we cooked our own meal under the supervision of Jacob Mathews. In all we prepared 18 different dishes and still have the recipe sheets with us. During the day Jacob, who speaks excellent English, took us out to lunch and to visit various places that without his inside... More

I wish I could eat more of the fantastic Indian food right now! We cooked pretty much everyday for the extended chef stay. Most of the prep work is done for you- for cooks this is very pleasant, but if you are here to learn basic cooking techniques- you don't really do chopping, measuring that sort of thing. We learned... More

If you are a novice cook who needs some help/guidance reading and following a recipe with unfamiliar ingredients, then you may enjoy this experience. However, if you are a competent and confident cook, then it will not be worth you spending your hard- earned cash on this. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer who stated it was not... More

We took our family of five for a three night stay at the Pimenta in March. We wanted to customize our trip to the interests of our group, and Jacob was more than willing to accommodate our requests. When I asked about transportation from the Port in Kochi he immediately arranged a driver for our entire stay. While the rooms... More

If like me, you like your journeys across the world to have their moments of spontaneity and intuitiveness with the potential to let yourself just "go with the flow", then The Pimenta is perfect. The lazy palms and turmeric plants grow quietly amongst the little abodes in which each guest rests and sleeps between all the fun and learning that... More

This was my first 'cooking trip'. It was a wonderful first experience- we were very well taken care of, enjoyed delicious food at the farm and were given a very authentic experience of Kerala. Jacob was a lovely host and had an abundance of knowledge to share with us- each day he would take us to different places - churches,... More

A friend found this place online and we came for a short 3 night stay. Jacob was a great host and we learned a lot about cooking and the region. This is not your regular resort and be prepared for no A/C and cold showers! The rooms are simple and clean. There are fans in the rooms but in hot... More

Thank you very much for the reviewer . The guest was with us at the hottest summer of the decade and most days it was cloudy too .Unfortunately our solar water did not work at that time . Have fixed the issue by cutting down the shades trees grown into that area. As the guest says this is not a... More

We couldn't stop raving about our cooking holiday here, to friends and family. It was so much more than we had expected. As well as cooking amazing food ourselves (we learnt over twenty dishes, and took copies of many more from the host's great selection of cookbooks), we were taken to great restaurants/eateries in the local area for other meals,... Thank you for the review and highlighting the goodness of the property. Your open mind and willingness to trust and respond to the situations made your stay here enjoyable. You also had the great heart to ignore minor negativities some times beyond our control . We should be taking note of all the guest's creative suggestions to make this place... More

If you want to see this part of Southern India under the tourist radar this is the place for you.So don't come here if you are expecting a resort with a spa and cocktails by the pool. This is the real deal for a trip to india. The 5 day cooking class was only part of the experience. There is sleeping... More

Thank you for the review showing the different aspects of this place. Thank you for your understanding that this is not a resort or hotel . This is a small place to stay with four cottages located in our forest garden with a communal area and a kitchen equipped for doing hands on cooking holidays . Our rooms are not... More
