Lonely Planet recommended Spencer Homestay but I should have remained skeptical... It was described as a pristine homestay. It was anything but. Upon arrival, I was taken to my room which had no windows. Given the 98+ degree weather outside and extreme humidity in Cochin, the airless and blacked out room felt a bit stifling. The bathroom sink and toilet... More

I really liked Spencer Home. The manager was very kind and humble, the prices reasonable and the decor very true to Fort Kochi, a very colonial atmosphere. The rooms are good and the patio looks amazing. There are quite a few mosquitoes at night so do use the net and prepare your insect repellent! One thing the place could improve... More

The Spencer Home has a lovely airy entrance lobby with wifi connection and a computer to use. The rooms surround a small grassy area with wide, shady verandas. The rooms are spotless, no dirty marks on the wall, with clean (although somewhat stained) sheets and towels.Very comfortable beds but no television. The people running it are very pleasant and speak... More

Stayed 3 nights here. Rooms were good size and clean. Hot water which is nice. But don't expect breakfast before 9am and only toast and tea/coffee is included. You have to wait a loooong time for it! Overpriced. I would suggest you stay elsewhere.

Rooms are nicely decorated but the attached shower/wc room quite uncomfortable. No place to put any shampoo or shower gel and I don't say about tooth-brushes and other small items (women need them sometimes). Any room without a/c is good for winter time but in the evenings staying at the patio and in the room requires mosquito-protection; the burning spirals... More

We liked our stay at Spencers very much. The staff is friendly and helpful. The spacious rooms in an old charming building which, has been accurately renovated, are clean and comfortable. Enjoy your Breakfast on your garden terrace! WiFi is free (and working!). And this place is oh-so-quite that you can get a really good sleep here :-) Only in... More

If you are looking for an easy-going,nice and clean base in Fort Kochi to explore the city, this is a good place for you. Rooms are clean, neat and spacious, and the building is a heritage colonial-era villa. Value for money is also good. Recommended!

This was a gentle introduction to Kerala after our tiring flight from London with a long stop over overnight in Bahrain. We were greeted by very laid back, smiling young women in lovely saris who spoke hardly any English (we knew no Malayalam) who made us feel at home. We had a lovely room opening on to the pretty courtyard... More

This beautiful home is conveniently placed with views onto the Parade Ground, where you can peacefully while away the hours watching the cricket. Nothing is too much trouble for the gentle mannered Sajan, who also offers an excellent taxi service. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean with period details. There is a beautiful tranquil garden, where breakfast is served... More

This colonial home was recommended by a fellow traveller and it completely lived up to his raving reviews. The home is spotless and the staff are extremely helpful in all matters. They not only organised trips to Munnar, Periyar and Elleppey for a houseboat but also organised flights and trains for our onward journey. Nothing was too much trouble.
