We stayed for two nights at Waltons while in Fort Cochin. Mr Walton is super helpful and knowledgable about the area. We had a large room with a very spacious bathroom but the room had a very strong smell of damp that hit you every time you entered the room and started to make us feel nauseous. The rooms are... We arrived at Walton's homestay without a reservation. We were lucky that there were people checking out at the same time. We were checked in at the garden room which turned out to be one of the best rooms. The room was beautiful with alot of wood and right in front of a quiet garden with a pond and a... More

I can only repeat much of what has been said by earlier complimentary reviewers in that I was made to feel very welcome at Waltons. The breakfasts - overseen by the lovely Mrs. Walton - were plentiful and interesting with an Indian flavour. I love the local fruit so was never disappointed here. Whilst the rooms and facilities were very... More

'The House By The Side Of The Road' was a memorable place to stay, centrally located in the centre of Fort Cochin close to restaurants and cafes yet quiet at night. Mr. Walton, in his book lined, snug office, is a real gentleman. He could not be more charming, caring, efficient and informative whilst Mrs Walton provides a 'just right'... More

Mr & Mrs Walton & the staff who assist them are some of the nicest people we met in India. The rooms were comfortable & quiet. The breakfast plentiful & consisting of fresh fruit, eggs, toast & jam, coffee & tea. Mr Walton will advise you on places to visit, eat etc if you require. We stayed 3 persons at... More

We just finished two stays at Walton's: the first five nights and the second an additional four nights with a trip around other places in Kerala in between. We also arranged transport to and from the airport through Mr. Walton. While the bed are simple, the rooms are clean and pleasant. Our stay was in early March so the optional... More

This reliable place was a delight. As a guest, and indeed you feel a bit like a family guest, you enjoy a clean peaceful rest in comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. Using the AC is at an additional price, but a nice omelet and fruit breakfast is included--served at the family's kitchen. If you know India, the fact that... More

Opted for an upstairs room with a sit out to the garden and was given a large, wood panelled room, with a small verandah. Room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfasts were plentiful and sociable. Mr Walton is very welcoming, informative and helpful, and the homestay is a delightful retreat after busy days exploring and sightseeing. The area... More
