A friend of ours who lives in Srinagar booked this houseboat for us and it was in a great location on Nagin Lake, which is really quiet and peaceful - and the water appears to be clean. The houseboat had four bedrooms - all en suite - there was just my husband and I and my elderly (86) mother, who they treated like a queen!
We asked for hot water in the morning, which was always boiling hot and on time. The food was really delicious with lots of vegetables, rice and good quality meat. Breakfasts consisted of our choice of eggs, toast and jam (rather electric in colour!) with tea or coffee - all we needed.
Transport was available whenever we requested and included in the cost. The only additional charge was for bottled water. We took our own alcohol as this was not available (Muslims) but they provided us with soda etc.
There were visits, of course, from the locals selling jewellry, leather coats, flowers but if we indicated no interest, we were not...
