House Boat Lucky Dawn, part of the Dawn Group of house boats is delightful. Having read bad comments/concerns from other travelers re: some house boats on Dal Lake being musty and hosts frightening, I was concerned. But House Boat Lucky Dawn was wonderful and exceeded my expectations. My daughter and I stayed there three nights. It is clean and fresh and the rooms very spacious and comfortable. The host Yaqoob and his brother Lateef are warm, friendly and accomodating, but not intrusive. It is in an excellent location, not far from the Boulevard, an easy shikara (water taxi) ride. The view of the lake and mountains is lovely and I enjoyed listening to the birdsong and watching eagles and kingfisher birds. The meals were made to order. This is a very nice place to stay on the lake. more
