highly recommend hotel Swiss in Srinagar! Have stayed for 3 nights in June this year with my wife and children, and have felt very welcome and very well looked after! The hotel is 2 min walk to the amazing lake and 10min walk to the city centre. Many walks in walking distance and a few Kashmiri restaurants to choose from.... More

We couldn't have been more relaxed at this amazing hotel. Family run, and a family atmosphere that everyone could feel. Unlike a lot of hotels in India, there's a downstairs sofa area, which acts as a bit of a place to meet other travellers which is good for if you're travelling solo. The owner, Ruf, was more than happy to... More

This was supposed to be the last last destination on our 10 day trip from Leh. As expected we were completely exhausted by now. We decided to reach a day early from what we had planned due to the rumours we had heard about getting stuck at Zojila Pass. However, we safely made it to Srinagar and to the hotel.... More

The Hotel Swiss in Srinagar only bear the name but it doesn't deserve the reference to a possible Swiss style accommodation. The hotel looks fine and the location about 5 minutes walk to the lake is great. Even the staff is friendly. It's not even a bad place as such. Free Wifi at the reception. The original red carpets are... More

Agree that the owner Rauf made our stay a most positive experience. Added to this the rest of the staff also were very helpful. We were in Srinagar just before the floods and didn't realise how close we were to escaping the disaster. We left on the morning of the floods, our taxi taking us to the airport through a... More

Is Swiss Hotel the friendliest guesthouse in India as Lonely Planet says? The short answer is 'no', however the staff are by no means unfriendly or unhelpful. The hotel is one min walk from the lake and in a nice, quiet neighbourhood. The rooms are clean and nicely laid out and there is free wifi in the common room. However... More

When Lonely Planet said the Swiss Hotel was "one friendliest places to stay in India" we thought "that's a high bar to aim for" given how friendly we have found everyone. But Rouf and his team Altaf, Mudasir and Ashiq really do provide a home away from home. The large sitting area is great to chat to the 4 of... More

I must tell that Srinagar is a beautiful place and the lake is beautiful. We picked Hotel Swiss in the Lonely Planet, the review was quite positive. The first thing we noticed is that the price have doubled since the visit of LP writers, it was 1200 INR, the most expensive night we had for our whole trip in India.... More
