We spent 2 nights at Banjara Camps in Thanedar in May 2015. The sometimes nauseating 6+ hour drive up the windy roads from Thirtan Valley to Thanedar was arduous and this was (relatively) the priciest accommodation on our Himachal trip. However, once we arrived at Banjara, it was all worth it. This well run hotel, perched atop the hills of... More

Thanedar is famous for its apples as apples were bought to world famous Kinnaur from Thanedar’s experiments in planting apples. The room was beautiful and cozy with big glass windows for a beautiful view of the green valley and snow caped mountains from the room. The food was too good with a lot of it being organic in sourcing. I... More

This is the third time we came here in 4 years. Incomparable sense of holidaying. The people, the food, the drive, the views - each of them are priceless. We have seldom felt the warmth that we feel here anywhere else. We are already planning our next, given that we just get 2 opportunities to go out that long and... More

Awsome place and awsome property. This place is very very quite. No traffic no honking. Just a plain talk with nature. It is 8 degree Celsius on 17th Oct 2014. Just 1 night trip. It takes 5-6 hrs from chandigarh in a comfortable drive.

The first night we stayed at this pictureseque property, we were there for less than 12 hours with traffic hold - ups enroute from Simla and early check out the next morning. What stood out that night was the hospitality of the host - Mr Prakash Thakur and the care of the manager - Sharmaji who kept calling our driver... More

Mr Sharma, please take a bow. Mr Thakur, you are one lucky man to have a manager like him. I could write about the stunningly located property which it is, I could write about great food which we had. I could write about the wonderful rooms, the Saroga Forest trek, the heavily laden apple trees all of which would be... More

This was my second time to Banjara camps, Thanedar! And this time with friends as well. A beautiful three hour drive from Shimla brings you to Thanedar. We went right in the peak of apple season- so all we could see were Apple laden trees- it did make the stay special. The reception started right from the main road, with... More
