Beautiful building and fantastic decor. Spacious rooms, helpful staff. The location is good and the restaurants are a particular highlight. Eating Gujarati thali on the rooftop under the stars is particularly magical

We have planned a dinner at HOMG, but we have discovered cockroaches in food and many roaming on dinning table. If a person have no problem to eat cockroaches may continue to eat there. We have informed the manager and the staff about this problem but I guess they were used to it and didn't even apologize. ... Very strange... More

The Place is unique in Ahmedabad given it is a Gigantic House in the middle of the city converted into a hotel and restaurant. The ambience is very soothing and we enjoyed gujarati thali in candle light on the terrace. The food is delicious and the service is very good. BUT when the bill arrives, you are forced to think... The House of MG is a unique property in ahmedabad with heritage type rooms and ambiance. The Gujarati Food is amazing and the rooms and service are good. I felt this is over priced in terms of stay as well as food charges. Since this is right in the heart of old city, dont expect silent and serene time.

The House of MG is a hotel, but it is a hotel built in and around a stunning house built in the early 20th century by an Ahmedabad textile king. The house is extraordinary - more like a cheerful catacomb than a normal hotel, and I suspect that there are no room duplicates - they're all different. Our room was... More

The House of MG is a historic property that has been converted into a boutique type hotel. Because of this each room is different and interesting. We had a wonderful room, a large space with a large bathroom. To get to it you had to walk through the room where the public toilets are...not a concern, just a curiosity. The... More

We were a group of 19 women! We descended upon The House of MG in February 2012. This was the last stop on a whirlwind trip of Gujarat for 11 days. We had saved the best for last! The House of MG was amazing in every way! The rooms were all special and unique. My room had a swing in... More

House of MG is a convenient and comfortable base to explore the old city while visiting Ahmedabad. It has the heritage charm with modern comfort. However, both the hotel and the restaurants are overrated, definitely not one of the most elegantly decorated or atmospheric heritage properties in india as some guidebooks suggested. We stayed at a grand deluxe room for... More

House of MG is one of those hotels that one hopes will remain the same and not become a big chain/ star hotel. It stays true to its heritage and delivers a very unique experience. We enjoyed the friendly and super helpful service of everyone from the reception to housekeeping to their in-house guide. The rooms are all different, with... More

The House of Mangaldas Girdhardas is in the centre of the busy city of Ahmedabad, once the home of a wealthy merchant, who had it built to his own requirements. The hotel was while we were there being extended into the other half of the building, formerly inhabited by another family member, and it is to be hoped that it... More
