This was an attractive enough, but ordinary room. And it was as clean as most chain hotel rooms. However, out of all the places in which we stayed (La Quinta, Best Western and independent) it was the most expensive. The others were nicer. The Hampton Inn Alamogordo is one of the typical ready-mades you'll find anywhere near the Highway entrance. We stayed here two nights while exploring White Sands and the Ruidoso region. After having spent one night in Carlsbad, the Hampton Inn in Alamogordo was a tremendous respite and upgrade. We stayed a few nights at this hotel while we were visiting White Sands. The hotel is OK, but the staff was somewhat inexperienced. I had one free night with Hilton Rewards, and was going to pay for my second night. They suggested that we move to a different room for the second (paid) night. That made no sense whatsoever.... more

This didn't seem like the newest hotel in town, but it was above average. The comp breakfast was plentiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
