We headed here as the place was highly recommended in Lonely Planet. Not for the first time they were well off the mark in India. Firstly, the room was double the price as stated in LP's most recent edition. We took a fan room, the sheets had quite clearly not been cleaned, they had stains on them and smelt of... More

We read great reviews, so booked a night and referred to friends. Bad call. Wi-fi was sketchy, but they made us pay for it anyways. There was a "working" fan in the room, which somehow didn't seem to be creating any air flow; other guests said the same thing. I guess this creates business in the restaurant because nobody can... During my month in the Andaman Islands I passed through Port Blair a couple of times and always stayed at Lalaji. Everybody I met in the more remote places turned up there sooner or later, so it is definitely a good place to meet people and catch up with old travel acquaintances. The rooftop bar/restaurant is a great place to... More

If you are travelling with intention of spending on Travel alone and not on luxury then this is a great place to be in Port Blair. Rooms are little small as told earlier by people but there is no lack of good intention in what they provide here. The roof top restaurant and Wifi is something travelers can look forward... More

This guest house is clean with smallish but quite comfortable rooms. Attached bathrooms are large enough without the lingering smell of damp that you get in some places. Also no peeling paint on the walls. The rooms that I took on both occasions passing through PB had a large storage unit for bags and a body length mirror on the... More

Clean room, very friendly and helpful manager, good location (yet no "bay view" from rooms) and nice roof restaurant to chill. Needs improvement: Bed sheets were dirty and not changed from the previous guest (same happened on two separate stays!), shower head was 90% blocked, so it took forever to take a (cold) shower, no place in the bathroom to... Our trip to the Andaman Islands began with one night in Port Blair. We arrived mid-morning and knew we were going to be pretty busy arranging transport, a local sim card and such because we intended to take the morning bus up to Diglipur early next morning, so we booked accommodation in advance on booking.com. We booked one of their... More

Rooms were small, but clean and had attached bathroom. Bed was a bit crappy, but doable for 1 night. This hotel had a nice rooftop restaurant serving good food and nice cold beers. There is also wifi available (although not free), which is quitte rare on the Andamans. All together, a good deal for 700 Rs per night.

Backpacker place where most just spend one night to or from Havelock Island. Rooms pretty basic but clean; one even has the luxury of A/C. Restaurant on roof terrace pretty good for full meals and for breakfast. It also offers a place to hang out after check-out for the standard backpackers who have no interest in Port Blair whatsoever (similar... More

I loved staying in Lalaji Bayview. Its location is convenient for a day trip to Ross Island, to visit the Cellular Jail and to stroll around the Aberdeen Bazaar. The rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. But it's the rooftop restaurant and the staff that made me feel so much at home! The rooftop restaurant is cozy and breezy,... More
