checked in at about 1600hrs, room was clean, love the bedspead...otherwise it was just disappointing, not so friendly stuff....no towels, no toilet tissue,no soap,no iron...thank God it was a sleep over for the next day flight.... more
The hotels fine, but nothing special. The aircon is loud and its death as a hotel is imminent. while we were there we saw the death of the pool bar and subscription TV. Over priced hovel. Simple really. My wife and 2 children were in need of somewhere to stay and decided on this as it was 1am in the morning. We were charged roughly $75 for staying here, the only reason we stayed here was that the other 2 decent hotels in town were full (we were surprised) and our flight came... more
the venerable old cathay hotel in lautoka is dying (possibly to be rebuilt as a small chain hotel).this is sad news for past budget/upmarket backpackers revisiting this fijian indian sugar town which is also departure point for 12 hour boat crossing to savusavu..there is no longer a restaurant on premises and even the "renovated" rooms are poor standard with rattlery... more

With respect to the above review, we would just like to clarify that: a) Cathay Hotel is operating as normal although we are reviewing plans to renovate our restaurant which is currently closed (in the interim, there are many restaurants nearby) b) There are no plans underway to...
