Simply put, amazing. We did 6 days of tours organized through the hotel paired up with Iguana Crossing Hotel in Isabella for 3, then returned for 2 more after. 3-25 to 3-28 Solymar 3-29 to 4-1 Iguana Crossing (also awesome, but rough boat ride over, try to sit on the top) 4-1 to 4-3 Solymar. This schedule got changed a... More

Viewed 3 different hotels prior to booking Solymar. Finch Bay is the most beautiful but you have to take a boat and walk a long distance with your luggage along a boardwalk to get to hotel, Aventura in the mangroves does not have any kind of a view from rooms- just restaurant. Solymar was our pick for relaxation, convenience, a... More

Dear Bcr8tv, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate your feedback and have taken steps to insure that guest service is our top priority by limiting the hours that employees and owners alike are present in hotel's social areas. Our breakfast buffet is freshened thoughout the morning with careful focus on keeping cold food chilled... More

Hotel Solymar is one of the best if not the best hotel on Santa Cruz. There are iguanas, crabs and seals always out back by the pool. The hotel is located right in the middle of town so you are able to walk to the restaurants and the boat dock (if you want to take day trips to other islands).... More

Dear Tesssa91, Thank you for your review, we are so delighted that you enjoyed your experience! Our oceanfront patio is a wonderful spot to engage with Galapago's natural wildlife, especially when a Blue-footed Boobie stops by! The fisherman's wharf is a great spot to get photos of daily life in Puerto Ayora, the fisherman and their wives coexisting along side... More

Stayed here recently for 2 nights across the street (Hotel Islasol), 2 nights at Hotel Solymar and one night elsewhere (booked late, but good experience to move around and see many different hotels!). Here is the good: - Great, friendly people and staff - the extra fee to have someone meet us at the airport and take care of our... More

When we first planned our girls trip to the Galapagos Islands, we had booked in another hotel. Do to overbooking, we were upgraded to the Solymar(which ended up being for the very best). What a great place! All the staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean. The staff treated us as their own family and made... More

I agree with most of the comments - pro and con. It's not cheap, but then this is Galapagos. The hotel can be a little noisy, we were in the block facing the pool. The restaurant is OK. Likewise the bar. Be careful of the pool. As is the case everywhere on the islands animals have right-of-way. On my first... More

Puerto Ayora is one of the Galápagos Islands. Twenty years ago there were 3,000 inhabitants and today there are 22,000. It's a one trick pony kind of town but what a pony. We sit on our shaded balcony and watch a sea lion, pelican and iguana sun beside the pool. They are regulars to this place. The rooms are large... More

We were booked on a cruise which was cancelled so our tour co. put us on another one & made up the difference with some land content. This hotel was recommended. The bed was comfy but difficult to get past if someone was in the chair. While English is spoken there are few problems here & there. The desk was... More

Dear bluebird3458, Thank you for your review and taking the time to share your comments. We understand it must have been difficult to have booked and planned a cruise then have those plans changed by your tour operator at the last minute. When plans don't go as followed it can often skew the view of the rest of the experience.... More

The hotel was not terrible in general, but way over priced for what you're getting. The breakfast buffet is the same every day and if you don't arrive early, you can expect a few flies and ants around your food. There was a problem with our shower water (it smelled really bad) so after the second complaint they moved us... More

We had rooms at the front which overlooked the main street and the hotel on the opposite side of the street which was handy but NOISY. It was not always staffed and pre-booked tour arrangements were not in place but then sorted out after a day. Staff friendliness varied but it could be the language differences. Breakfast was in a...
