On a recent trip to Galapagos, we stayed at Hotel Solymar in the Mar section. There are 3 room types, ocean/beach view, street view, and building view. Unless you want to spend notable amount of time lounging in your hotel room (in Galapagos, why?), I would recommend the building view as it is the cheapest. The hotel is a great... More

I deliberately took the cheaper option to stay on the opposite side of the street (Isla Sol) which still remains quite pricey but fine I knew it before going there. Postive : The personnel is great, friendly and helpful. The location could not be better, walking distance from everything (Puerto Ayora is small anyway but still), nice choice of breakfast... More

We stayed at Hotel Solymar. We had a room in the building across the street, not ocean view. The room was spacious clean and well equipped. The hotel is in a great spot. You can easily walk to restaurants and shops. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to return there.

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and its as excellent. Every part of it. The rooms were spotless & big. The breakfast was great. The dinner was excellent. All the food was fresh. The workers were helpful & attentive. Jimmy, the manager, went more than out of his way to help us with a camera issue that would... More

We stayed for 5 nights at Isla Sol, part of Solymar, but across the street. On the positive side the room was spacious and amenities were good - nice bathroom, aircon etc. The location is perfect in terms of being in the centre of Puerto Ayora and easy walking to all parts of the town. On negative side, we were... More

This hotel is situated on the waterfront, with wildlife often visiting the swimming pool, which is a plus. It is within easy walking to the Pier, the bank and ATM are next door, the best restaurants just across the road, all the major souvenir shops along the same street, the dive shops as well. It is extremely well located. It... More

Stayed at the hotel for 6 nights while on the Santa Cruz Island of the Galapagos. We stayed in the building across the street because they had bigger rooms. Very spacious for the 4 of us. It really does not make any difference for the ocean view because you are 100 ft from the ocean. Breakfast is included nothing special... More

Nice hotel with great views of the ocean. Breakfast was average, but it is an island, so it's OK. Nice to watch sea lions from your balcony. The location is very good for walking in the downtown area to have dinner at one of the restaurants or for shopping.

Wonderful location, easy to walk to everythng. Front desk staff so friendly and welcoming! Room was small but nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nothing special but fine. Did not have any other meal. Drinks by the pool were uber-slow, not very good, and really expensive.
