In a town of elegantly decaying Austrian mansions, this hotel is somewhat an anachronism, but it does its job Admirably. Ah hem. The room was clean and spacious and fully air-conditioned (once I worked out that it only stayed on as long as the balcony door was shut). It's location is perfect; a short jaunt into town and right on... more

We travelled with Thomson on a weeks break. Everything went to schedule. Check in at Gatwick was good, the flight was on time, pick up at Pula quick, and the minibus ride to Opatija (just over an hour) was scenic. The Hotel Admiral is not pretty to look at but inside quite comfortable and well maintained. The reception desk was... more

2nd year going to the Admiral and it was just as welcoming as before. Not many brits which is fab and it is very clean and tidy there. Lots of places to eat, various trips organised by reps but we deceided to explore ourselves. You can walk along the lungomare - 8 kms one way to Lovran and 4 km... more

We returned today from Opatija and the Hotel Admiral. It is located at the edge of the town and a 2 minute stroll to the shops and cafe bars/restaurants. The hotel is 4star and deservedly so. It is very clean, the double room we stayed in was very spacious with free safety deposit box and airconditioning. A large balcony with... more

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for one weeks bed and breakfast at the beginning of May 2009, having booked a package deal with Thomsons. The hotel is extremely well located in the resort, a little towards the edge on the route out towards Icici, Ika and Lovran (it's to the right of the resort as you look... more

Nice rooms with great view. Excellent idea to choose “all inclusive”: food is various and good and personnel very attentive. Great terrace covered by wisteria. No internet into the rooms and must pay for Inet corner. more

I've just returned from a solo one-week holiday at the Admiral. I'd say the four-star rating derives from the opulence of the public areas rather than anything special about the facilities and bedrooms - good though my room was. I was truly astonished to be charged for a sunbed and parasol at the pool, let alone in a 4* hotel!... more

We only stayed one night at this hotel and were glad to move on. It had an air of dull, Pre-Peristroika Eastern block about it, nothing specifically bad but nothing to recommend it either. Our room was smallish and functional with an OK sea view (Opatija was the least scenic place we visited in Croatia - much preferred Rovinj and... more
