Hotel Palace (Next door and associated) the more grand but East side overlooks bus station. Belvedere faded grand but excellent value. Quiet enough in September but with no air conditioning could be less comfortable in high summer. Excellent big rooms (89 on 4th floor has a dressing room as well). This looks like a grand hotel in a good location - but think again!! The central location in high season means that thousands (yes, thousands) of people walk past the hotel at night. My partner and I stayed at the Palace-Bellevue in June 2006. Very grand hotel. Couldn't fault the staff, bedroom huge and well presented. Have just returned after our stay at the Palace-Bellevue on a halfboard basis. Clearly this was once a very opulent hotel unfortantlley now it is a little faded and just lacks those final details to make it great again.
