We stayed a few nights as a couple in a private room. The hostel has very helpful and friendly staff, they speak English most of them, the kitchen offers meals for an ok price and the food is good. Good knowledge of surroundings and expeditions in the reception. Extremely large area, big pool, huge room for movies, table tennis, etc.... More

I volunteered at Drop Bear Hostel for the entire month of November 2014 and I can`t speak highly enough of my time there. The owner Gabe is a really great guy and is always available to help you out along with all the awesome staff. The kitchen staff and cleaners are all local Colombians so you can speak Spanish daily... More

Santa Marta isn't the most tourist city; but it is an amazing "home base" to explore nearby tayrona park, some of the amazing beaches in the area, and taganga. A lot of people choose to stay in taganga, and even though some nights of the week and some times of the year, this might be a very touristy area with... More

Only stayed one night in a private room. My favorite thing was the hall on the 2nd floor full of hammocks that you can lounge in. They were never full the two times I went up there. The bar is cool and the drinks are reasonable (Bogota Beer Company - 5.000, Club Colombia and Aguila - 3.000 if I remember... More

Weirdly dead when we were there, this hostel had everything except atmosphere! We're gonna chalk that up to the low season though - there's a sweet bar, great pool, cool outdoor area and huge space for watching movies indoors. Easy walking access to ATMs and supermarket, cheap taxi to bus station (really a bus corner). Good WiFi, kitchen nothing special... More

We stayed on a shared dorm for one night. I was amazed by all the stuff it has: so much space, beautiful simpleness, very clean, very quiet and it is on a peaceful part of the town. It also has a cool bar with good prices, and a restaurant with nice non expensive food.

The location is a bit out of the way, but with cheap taxis and great on-site facilities it isn't the biggest problem. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, although air-conditioning is a must in the stifling heat of Northern Colombia. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the cleaners are all lovely too. The atmosphere was very party-like, which... More

This hostel was so welcoming! I used it as a base to do lots of other two day treks leaving my belongings here locked up! The staff are so friendly and the pool is so clean and the atmosphere is chilled and yet party like at the same time! It is a little out of town but I liked that... More

Incredibly comfortable house with tons of space, lots of involvement with the city of Santa Marta and plenty of things to pass the time without leaving the hostel. We were easily connected with transportation to Tyrona Park after our stay and got to see most of the city. The staff is excellent and incredibly helpful, the kitchen is great, and... More

An excellent hostel, made brilliant by it's lovely helpful staff! They recommend great trips just for the day or a few nights, with options to leave luggage in the storage room! It's easy to get to parque tayrona or minca, both unmissable attractions in Santa Marta! The hostel itself is completely original, taking form of a 70s style ex cartel... More
