We stayed here for a family birthday party in Asbury Park, the hotel is in a great location, walking distance to just about everything in Asbury Park. The hotel has a nice quaint lobby and our room had an ocean view. However, check in for both rooms had issues, one on our reservations and the second we couldn't get in... More

This is a nice hotel with great location right across from the convention center. Not perfect but, definitely a good choice. Don't bother with the hotel parking, easy and cheap parking right on the street.

Access to NYC a big plus for a short weekend visit. Access to beach, boardwalk, restaurants, children's activities fantastic. Hallways and rooms have odd musty odor. They charge $350 per nite for standard king room in the summer months because they can. It's really not worth the price. No hot water 9pm at nite. No hot water in the a.m. What... More

Terrible accommodations in what was once a beautiful building. Stay home unless you don't mind: clanking pipes (in the summer), no water pressure in the shower, non-working TV, no exhaust in bathroom, no hospitality info in room, long wait for car, over-used furniture.

I liked the room very much, but didnt like that coffee was not offered in the room. Called for delivery and was told to go to the lobby. Not what I expected after paying so much for a room. The restaurant and bar where terrible! The place was clean and modern and I liked that, but my favorite part was... More

Hotel is nice, location is great but the small things make it a little annoying: there is no coffee in the room and only until noon in the lobby, there is no stand for the luggage in the room, nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom. Not big deal but anoying

Lots of problems in the bathroom- no water pressure in the shower (7th floor), loose floor tile next to the sink, sink plug not working properly, hair dryer switch broken, no convenient place to hang towels... Bed was firm, which I like. Slept well. Staff was great, very friendly! Bar and restaurant were fine, but bar service at the pool... More

The only thing this hotel has going for it is that it is close to the beach and the Stone Pony. We came in for a concert at the Pony and it was about 2 blocks away. No drinking and driving. Its not bad for a night stay but anything over that I would not advise. Paying for parking and... More

We stayed at the Berkeley for 2 nights for a wedding. It's title is deceiving as it is not quite oceanfront, more like across the street from the boardwalk. The main picture on the website is actually the Mezzanine area and looks a lot nicer than most of the hotel. Our biggest complaint was that every time we took a... More

The hotel was amazing. So amazing that we spent as much time in hotel than we did at beach/boardwalk. I can't wait to come back but will need to find an alternative to the parking that you offer. We paid to stay in lot but the next day had to leave and I hated that I spent the time worrying... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As historic Asbury Park's premier boutique hotel, The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel enjoys a prime location along the New Jersey shoreline just steps from the famed boardwalk. Designed by noted Beaux Arts architect Warren Whitney of New York, the hotel recently underwent a renovation of historic proportions and is poised to experience the renaissance of this nineteenth-century seaside destination. Modern luxuries complement the classic grandeur of this 238-room famous hotel, with a nod to the Victorian architecture and oceanfront glamour of Asbury Park's storied past. The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel embodies everything that is the revitalization of the famed Jersey Shore and itself represents the rebirth of this cultural icon. Our restaurant is open on the weekends friday to Sunday only and open in season. ... more   less
