On the face of it this hotel makes a good first impression but there are a number of defects. First of all, the visitor must understand that it is a large house in a pleasant garden with pool in a suburban gated community. If you want to experience the coffee growing area it would be better to stay in a... More

On arrival we were shown to the junior suite on the ground floor, as others have said it is dark ,windowless, and with a tiny shower room. We asked if there was any other room available, and were given a suite upstairs which was delightful, large, light and airy, huge shower open to the air, much nicer. We were not charged... More

My spouse has tried to replicate the Mexican soup upon return to New York; the breakfast and lunch choices were varied and well prepared; the facilities and our suite were well maintained, although lighting near the otherwise excellent bed should be improved; the shower worked well after the first day; the hotel-supplied guide was engaging and knowledgable; superb place in... This is such an appealing property. It is well situated about fifteen minutes outside Pereira. I am genuinely sorry that the hotel failed to deliver on so many critical points. We spent five nights there. The shower trickled cold water. The lighting in our suite was virtually nonexistant. I literally read at night holding a flashlight. The kitchen was unable... More

My wife and I stayed at Sazagua for 3 nights at the end of a 3.5 week South American trip. We had high expectations for this hotel based on our research however were sadly disappointed. The room was nice although only because we were upgraded to a Junior Suite because we were the only guest in the hotel. The main... More

We had a standard room. They weren't full, but they put us in the best standard available. I like that sort of thing; shows a bit of effort. Grounds and hotel are very nice (pictures on their web site don't do it justice). Seen some moans in previous reviews about the size of the grounds; they are certainly not cramped.... More

The grounds aren't big, but they are well kept. The public rooms immaculate and well furnished. The dining area outside always perfectly set. Our room - a suite with a huge balcony was difficult to fault, at least (from North American eyes) given the price. The kitchen turns out excellent food. But there are issues. The menu and in particular... More

We stayed in a junior suite overlooking a gorgeous garden full of hummingbirds, tanagers, squirrels and iguanas living among flowering trees. The charming rooms were adorned with authentic antiques and coffee-axis / Colombian memorabilia. The in-room hammock was relaxing. The dining menu was very comprehensive with excellent food worthy a five star restaurant. That being said, breakfast was a bore...the... More

It's a very nice place to stay for a couple nights and everyone is very helpful and friendly. The rooms and grounds are very nice but you should know what to expect before booking. I'd originally booked a Junior suite and what I got was a very small room with a glass door opening up onto the public area where... More

The staff are gorgeous, patient, friendly and very helpful but had limited English so if a problem arose there was difficulties. The location was beautiful set amongst palms and trees with birds abounding. A peaceful, relaxing setting. However.... The first room ( Jnr Suite) (7) had no windows or view but a small courtyard with an open roof to let... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
SAZAGUA STEMS FROM THE CONCEPT OF THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL WITH THE FINEST EXPRESSION IN DESIGN, DETAIL, AND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. Sazagua exists in the heart of Colombia's coffee region, located in the Central Andes; this site is an exquisite manifestation of the region's hospitality and incomparable culinary arts. Sazagua, the name, pays homage to the Quimbaya civilization, an indigenous civilization that inhabited this region during antiquity. With truly exceptional weather and beautiful natural surroundings, characteristic of the template coffee region landscape, Sazagua is a guesthouse for very special guests and visitors. The surroundings evoke the longstanding households from feudal times; wooden structures, spacious corridors, colonial flooring, Spanish tiles, lively colors, light and nature dominate the aesthetic. The eclectic decoration consists of furnishings and articles from various time periods and different locations from around the globe, plus a selected art collection. All these decorative elements create a captivating environment of comfort, refinement, amicable service and a personal touch in every detail - allowing guests to submerse and indulge themselves in the contemporary and inventive cuisine. The gardens bombard the senses with pleasure, with a beautiful collection of palms and tropical plants that attract a wide variety of birds from the region. At the end of this spectacular garden, one discovers a beautiful and unique spa, built from large river rocks. In this same way, Sazagua is an ideal place for lectures, work meetings, special family or corporate celebrations. ... more   less
