We spent three excellent nights in this hotel. The room (Don Antonio) was beautiful. Huge, with multiple seating areas. The included breakfast was outstanding, with full waiter service in a lovely room. The hotel is in a great location, steps to everything opposite Teatro Herederia. The staff-Hernando, Loragne, and Jose were accommodating and helpful, The pool area, while small was... More

When booking the room for one night I asked for one with a few. When we arrived at the Hotel we gos one on the first Floor. After requesting a change we got a beautiful room at the roof top, nice view to the ocean and to the old fortress wall. Order your Breakfast to the room, amazing view.

La Merced Royal is a small (9 room) hotel with an excellent location in the historic center. The staff were all very friendly and the rooms very clean and modern. Everything is within walking distance (restaurants, sites, etc)

When I arrived I asked desk clerk Jose if the corporate rate I had been quoted included the taxes. He checked, and informed me that it did. When I checked out, he told me that since I was a resident of Colombia, the taxes would have to be charged to me separately. This would have resulted in me paying $210... More

I was in Cartagena for the film festival last March and stayed for a week at this boutique hotel right in front of the TAM theatre, by the walls facing the sea of the Old Town. I was very happy to be there: the location was perfect, walking distance (well, everything is walking distance within the Old Town) from the... More

This was a great place. It was a little expensive but we did stay during the holiday. The location was great, just short walk to the center of town. There were several restaurants nearby and the breakfast was very good.

I was really impressed with the excellent service provided by the staff, they were very attentive, friendly and guest service oriented. Though the rooms are pricey, the hotel is beautiful, well decorated and maintained with clean rooms. The Wi Fi service was problematic and almost impossible to connect inside the room.

You expect more at this price. Hotel needs some maintenance updates. Wifi did not work for three days. Available bikes are in bad condition. Pool is tiny. Room was large, service is attentive, but the overall package is just not worth it. Look elsewhere.
