Went with 2 families. We put two full packages of travelers checks in the hotel safe and never had a reason to use them as our cash and credit cards were sufficient. Upon return to US we discovered that checks were missing from each of the travelers checks packages and had been cashed in Cartagena the day after we left.... more

Stayed here for a few days in April as a start off point for Cartagena. It's in a great location, just spitting distance from the Plaza de Bolivar. All the rooms overlook an open courtyard looking down on to the dining area for the restaurant next door. Breakfast was included and worth sticking around for: a plate of fresh fruit,... more

Solid place. Was cheaper than most other spots in Cartagena. Not luxurious but clean and comfortable. Great helpful staff; incredible location in the heart of Old Town - tourist district. Very safe and clean. For the price range, this was solid. Paid 85USD/nite during Christmas week - would've rather paid less but this was a bargain compared to the market... more

I made the mistake of staying in Bocagrande to begin with, but moved here after a few days. This place came as a welcomed relief as it is much more like the places I choose to stay in as an independent traveler. It's got character, it's central, and it puts me closer to the locals. The staff was very friendly,... more

I stayed at Centro Hotel with a friend back in January. My friend found this hotel in her guidebook, and did the booking, and I'm glad she did. I am a totally novice international traveler, and I must admit, I was a little wary of going to Colombia, but my time in Colombia was unforgettable! I loved Cartagena. Centro Hotel... more

A bit too expensive but I liked it. Basic but huge room (all look different), not so many guests. Don't agree with other reviw that the beds were too hard and I liked the old wooden floor (oak?). Very nice staff, the helped us finding the correct local bus for travelling cheap. Great location. more

I chose Centro Hotel for my five-night stay in Cartagena in May 2008 after noticing it was listed on Lonely Planet as a "Midrange" place in the historical city center. The Hotel per my experience is not worth the four-star that are shown on their website but is indeed a good-quality Midrange, three-star hotel with basic but comfortable rooms with... more

My thoughts on El Centro Hotel in Cartagena, Colombia: - No bolt or chain lock on doors, meaning room service or maintence could enter at any time, even when you don't want to be disturbed. - Extremely loud...LOTS of street noise, and lots of noise from the restaurant right below the hotel. - No alarm clocks in rooms. Hope you... more
