Hotel Monterrey is a delightful step back into the past. Small, old, colonial style hotel build round an open courtyard (where a very adequate breakfast is served). Small rooms, but airco and wifi both worked well. Small plunge pool on the roof, ideall for cooling off. Hotel perfectly situated a few hundred metres outside the heart of the old city... More

The hotel was so helpful and beautifully located. The front desk arranged for us to go snorkeling and helped with language barriers. There is no gym, but our room was clean and the bar and restaurant have great service. Would stay again .

Pros: 1. It is right outside the old city. We had the flexibility of walking right into the walled city and some neighboring attractions 2. The staff spoke mostly Spanish but made an effector to assist as best as they could 3. The hotel and the rooms were kept clean 4. I loved the roof top view of the walled... More

An old colonial hotel which has a certain rustic charm. Rooms tend to be on the small side, but clean. Good breakfast in the open courtyard. Centrally located across the plaza from the clock tower and the old city. Staff attentive, wi-fi available. All in all a good choice.

Charming hotel with great breakfast and nice courtyard. Noisy area outside so pick the "superior" rooms with extra thick windows. Just minutes away from the walled city and restaurants and supermarkets. The staff was great.

We had a great time at the Hotel Monterrey, it is located accross the Convention Center, pretty close to other historical/colonial areas like: Theater, Pegassus statues, Plaza de los Martires, Tower's Clock and walled city. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom were remarkable, bathroom was ample with a cord to hang small wet clothes (like a swimsuit) and it... More

This hotel is very well located near the old city. I loved its look and cleanliness. The people were helpful and cordial. But I have one bad thing to say about this nice looking hotel. I could hear everything that was going outside. From the cleaning lady rolling her cart in the morning, the people cleaning after a past-midnight party,... More

Good location, moments from the old town, nice atmosphere within the hotel (nicely renovated old building) rooms v small & internal windows open to courtyard and external stairways so can be noisy (EXTREMELY NOISEY WHEN THERES A PARTY ON THE ROOF OR IN THE SQUARE JUST OUTSIDE!!!) staff were lovely enough but no one seems to be in charge &... We booked in this hotel hoping to have an amazing 4 days in Cartagena before to go to Barranquilla. The hotel is beautiful, colonial style and the staff was sweet, warm smiles & helpful. Love the breakfast, delicious colombian style. The hotel serve the breakfast in a the middle of an inside garden surrounded with green tropical palm plants. The... More

We spent 6 nights in this hotel at the 4th floor. It is an old hotel. The location is good if you want to stay in the old city. Our rooms were small and clumsy. The windows are wooden windows and not noise proof. Service is poor but the staff are very nice. The terrace at the top is one... More
