There's no manager on site and the cleaning crew was not ready for us on arrival. Then they showed us to a very dark, cleanish room, where the shower flooded and we needed flashlights in order to read our travel guides. We asked for more lamps but they had none. We asked to move to one of the empty rooms... More

Like the previous reviewer, we also arrived to find problems with our reservation. A worker inside wouldn't let us in or tell us anything. I had to get someone at the restaurant next door to walk around the neighborhood and ask around about an affilated hotel. There was no heads up when we made the reservation, no follow up to... More

This hotel seems like a great choice IF you are lucky enough to have your reservation honored. I emailed the manager several times prior to my arrival because I know how colombians operate and was nervous about the reservation, plus I wanted to request help with other services like a cellphone rental and restaurant reservations. Everything seemed fine, except the... More

My girlfriend and I recently stayed in this hotel for over a week and our overall feeling on the hotel was one of disappointment. The positives were 1) Great location, could not be better really 2) Nice swimming pool and no issue getting chairs 3) Staff were generally friendly and at least tried to be helpful but the language barrier... I booked a four night stay at the Casa Boutique Hortensia through despegar.com choosing on their website a standard double room. When I arrived at the hotel I was given a twin room and told that if I wanted a double bed I would need to return after the 3pm check-in time when the general manager would have returned and... This beautiful boutique hotel is situated in the best area of downtown Cartagena within the safe fortress of the colonial zone. My fiance and I were treated and pampered as family by the hotel management and staff. The administrator, Mr. Pedro Martinez was kind enough to do a currency exchange on-site as well as the hotel manager Mr. Carlos on... More

Charming old villa with six or seven rooms so very intimate. Has a pool which is key in the Cartagena heat. Breakfast of fruit, eggs, toast, juice and coffee every morning. Wifi for free. Good location next to Sofitel Santa Clara, La Cevicheria, Cafe del Santisimo, etc. The main differentiating feature is the staff - same people every day and... More

I spent four nights here in March with a friend. The hotel had only opened a few weeks before and there were some things that were a little rocky (one employee was a little strange, there was a linen shortage, lighting in the rooms was dim). But the main staff person, Gregoria, was absolutely fabulous and looked after us like... More

This is very nice indeed! It's in a fantastic location in the beautiful walled part of stunning Cartagena. You won't beat the location! You are seconds away from beautiful squares and a fabulous range of restaurants. I stayed for three nights with my partner (during April). The couple who were in charge were very friendly. The rooms are cool and... More
