Some of the staff were not quite connected here- we received false information several times. Also, they "lost" our reservation upon our return from playa Blanca, so we had to sleep on the couch for a night because there were no other hostels with availability. And we still had to pay, even though they were fully aware this was their... More

Good points: - nice and friendly staff - air con in the rooms (which is definitely necessary) - great wifi Weak points: - the rooms are not very well cleaned (bathrooms are dirty - bundle hair in the sink, tons of toilet paper on the floor) - 10 dorm room is packed with beds - no space to put your... I am travelling around the world 7 month already and arrived to Cartagena after long flight from Europe. Though I am on the budget I booked the single room for the first night. It was quite expensive for this part of the world but when I saw it I could not believe it is true. THere was mold on the... More

The hostel staff were generally friendly and helpful, but the tiny lockers, hot rooms, and loud tv in the common area put me and my friend off. I left my washcloth and expensive (dirty) socks drying on the edge of my bed while we were out for the day, and they were abducted by the cleaning staff. The a/c is... More

Make sure you get an air conditioned room, because it's hot! Although, the AC isn't very strong so it takes a while to feel cool. If you're in the room next to the common area, be ready for loud TV noise at night. And, wifi is minimal or nonexistent in the rooms. Vicenta was awesome and had a lot of... More

myself and a group of friends stayed in Cartagena. it was a mixed group - male and female - and we just had the most awful experience with the owner, Pedro which completely ruined our experience. For the female members of our group, he constantly pestered them, touching them all the time and making a series of inappropriate comments. he... More

Staff are super-friendly - especially Jenny - and the beds and bathrooms are clean. Nice chilled out place to stay but it's really, really hot during the day - not much airflow - but that's the same in most places i've been here. good air-con in the rooms at night though. major complaint is size of lockers: too small to... No major complaints. Place was clean and staff helpful and friendly. It did not strike us as a party place at all. It was quite relaxed. The private double was so-so. Nothing special but not bad. The 2 restaurants right underneath are excellent. The pizza place in particular.

Makako is the best place I stayed in Cartagena (better than Mamallena and El Viajero). The staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It's got a good ambiance and the common area feels like that of your house back home: big screen tv, couches, and a nice balcony that overlooks a quiet side street in the Old Town. The only drawback... More

This hostel is in a very great spot, within walking distance of everything in the Old City. Dorms over priced though, and I can assume the other rooms are as well. Staff was great, good kitchen space. Not as chill as the name suggests, the TV is constantly on with music blasting and social travellers pre-drinking. Calle del Quero, where... More
