We spent two nights here in February. Walking though the impressive wooden doors we entered a beautifully proportioned lobby complete with a small pool. The bedrooms were arranged around the courtyard and the top floor had a sun deck, a bar, a pool and a spa.The rooms were small but spotless with a large bathroom and walk in shower. One... More

I adored this small boutique hotel. The location was great - down the street from great restaurants and nightlife - the service was perfect, and the room was spacious and clean. The price is unbeatable for such a wonderful place! A must if you are visiting Cartagena.

In short we picked the perfect hotel and will definitely be coming back. 5 star facilities. 5 star staff. Particularly Henry who was more than helpful with our abundant request from calling up 18 different restaurants and seeing if they were open to giving us extra ice to cool our cuba libres. Location in our opinion was perfect. Close enough... More

We spent our first night in Cartagena in a loud, marginal hostel nearby. After deciding that we would enjoy sleeping a little bit every night, we found this place at the last second and they had one room available. It was the best thing that could have happened to us. Beautiful room (and ours was the basic room), quiet at... More

Like some others we wanted to stay outside the more touristy Historic town and we were really pleased with Getsemani. Although there were a few tourists around it felt more like ordinary life in a Colombian city - the area has real character. We were warned that it was a bit ‘edgy’ - correct, but at no time in our... More

We stayed here at the end of our trip. Before, we had stayed within the wall. I preferred the Gethsemane neighborhood. Gives you a different slice of life in the city. The hotel was a welcome sight. We had just come from Santa Marta, where we stayed in leas than ideal conditions. Casa Canabal is clean; the pool is awesome;... More

We were unimpressed by the management in this hotel. The promised 15 minute massage never materialized, and the rooms, had no windows. The upstairs terrace was pleasant except for the disco music constantly pumped in which we had to repeatedly ask them to shut off. The pools are Wading pools. Don't expect to swim. The wait staff in the average... More

We chose this hotel for a few reasons: 1) a quiet room, 2) to stay in the area adjacent to the old town but not in it, so we could get a feel for a more local environment, and 3) comfortable and appointed but not out of sight pricey. The hotel sits on a street in Getsemani, a 5 minute... More

We chose Casa Canabal based on the strength of the Trip Advisor reviews after being unable to book at the "standards" in Cartagena (e.g. Santa Clara). Casa Canabal was an excellent choice in an interesting and up-and-coming neighborhood, Gestamani. The rooms were excellent. We had a suite (room 201) that has two double beds on the first level with a... More

This hotel is in Getsamani neighborhood right next to the historic old town. Because this neighborhood is still developing it feels like you are in real Cartagena. The tiny restaurants and assorted shops on the street are filled with mostly locals as opposed to tourists. The little streets bustle during the heat of the day, but just a ring of... More
