Location: It located in a brilliant part of the old city. Price: great price for what you get. Amenities: Everything that you need. General - whilst the rooms and bathrooms are a little tired they are completely functional and are comfortable. The staff/ owners are welcoming and full of great information including local eateries, transport etc. The pool and common... More

I was very happy with my choice in Cartagena. There are not a lot of truly budget options, but this is a good one. It is right in the walled, old city and is walking distance to everything (everything is walking distance to everything, really). The hostel itself is very nice; all blue and white with two small courtyard pools... More

I loved this hostel and stayed during two different visits to Cartagena. The location is perfect - right in the old town but not too close to the noisiest areas and within walking distance of everything. The staff were lovely and friendly, the dorm is comfortable and the living area is cozy. Not for those who want to party but... More

We stayed 3 nights in la casa de la chicheria in the dormitory and loved it. Location is great, in the old town. Place is clean and nicely decorated, beds are comfy, wifi is working well, price is good. Above all, myriam is very welcoming and helped us to organise our day trips to islas de rosario and the volcan,... More

It was a really quick business trip, but in general in enjoyed the hotel a lot, is an old restored colonial house, part of it is a hostel, there were a group of backpackers in a room with bunk beds. Miriam was really helpful before the arrival and Mr David in the night shift was very attentive also. Mi room... More

Nice, quiet, great location, great service, nice people, super clean... Is not a party hostel so you can actually rest, the staff makes you feel that you're at home, so far is my favorite Colombian hostel !

Stayed here for 2 nights in February 2013. Apparently the budget accommodation in Cartagena is generally pretty poor and this is one of the best of a bad bunch. For Cartagena it's probably quite a good option, but compared to hostels in other parts of Colombia it's overpriced and not very good, which is why we moved on after only... More

We really enjoyed our time at Chicheria. It can be hard to figure out the room configurations when using booking websites so here's the deal: you can stay in a mixed-gender dorm, a private room without its own bathroom (i.e., you share the hall bath with people staying in the dorm), or a private room with private bathroom. There are... More

Was slightly hesitant to stay in a hostel, as usually stick to hotels. It was a really good choice and enhanced my stay in Cartagena as I met so many really interesting travelers. Clean, cheap, safe and a good location. I stayed in the dorm but they do have a couple of private rooms.

Cartagena is hot, really hot. So, if you're a budget traveller, you'll appreciate the a/c in the hostel's 9-bed (plus loft) dorm. You'll also appreciate the friendly English-speaking staff, which are willing to go above and beyond to find information for you on Cartagena and other spots in Colombia. The small pool -- perfect for a quick dip or sitting... More
