When I showed up, they tried to send me to another place that they said they "owned" because they had overbooked. I looked up the hotel that they were trying to send me too, and it was not very nice. I insisted on receiving a room at Casa Mara as I was promised and they miraculously found that they had... More

so yah, I love this place. Why did i say its average? I'd only bring one of my more "rugged" ladies here, but I absolutely love it. I was half loaded one night I was staying in Hostal Baluarte around the corner....im barhopping and I see the wonderful pool through the gates. I finish my pub crawl, hit playa blanca... More

Nice hotel. Friendly staff, not to much English but we managed with our tourist Spanish. Really needed internet so they gave us a room on the second floor (first floor has the best reception, third the worst). We had room 4, extremely big for the two of us. Our bathroom (had a bath!) Was the size of a small dormroom!... More

Made the reservation through hostelbookers based on the good reviews. Stayed for three nights. It doesn't feel at all like a hostel. We didn't spend much time at the hostel, but the important things were all there: comfortable, quiet, clean and friendly. Beers, soft drinks can be bought at the front desk. No food or liquor was available. Coffee was... More

I"ve stayed at Casa Mara for five trips now and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The hotel calls itself a hostel but it has no dormitory, so I consider it really a hotel. Casa Mara has a great staff and the manager Marta does an excellent job running the hotel. The location is excellent, located on a quiet street with families... More

Paid for two nights on line, more than I would normally budget for but the draw of the pool swayed me. They closed it for cleaning, with no explanation. The staff was friendly, but they should have discussed the pool issue. I checked out after two days. I was considering staying longer if the pool reopened, but they quoted me... More

Stayed for four nights. I had a great room on the ground floor (number 1), with aircon and a fan. It is a bit expensive, but so is the rest of Cartagena. The courtyard is a wonderful, peaceful place to relax next to the little pool, in the sun or shade depending on now hot you find it. There's a... More

We stayed here for 4 nights. Well, we were supposed to but they didn't have our first night booking but were able to accommodate us in one of their sister hostels on the main road. It is situated n the Getsemani area, easy walk to everything. Very friendly staff. The rooms are a good size but they are very dated.... More

Could be wonderful, in the Getsemani area, easy walk to everything. Friendly staff, hardly any English spoken. Everything is however a little dated and not clean anymore, had no care and love the last years I think. Pool water is not too clean and not fresh, the jaccuzi upstairs had like 20 cm of dead water in it, the rooms... More

We spent 3 nights in casa Mara in december 2013.The hotel is on Getsemani quiet side street next to the corner of Media luna street where plenty of hostels, restaurants and bars are located. The rooms are on 2 floors around the patio with smal pool, they have no outside, but only patio-side windows. Our room (no 9) was small, but so-so ,but for the 150000COP...
