Our third stay in Cartagena at the Hotel San Martin warrants nothing but plaudits! This economy hotel maintains the quality & service standards of the best luxury hotels at prices that will shock the international traveler! If you are a return visitor, the staff remembers your name with the warmth of your favorite uncle. The hearty breakfast available each morning... More

If you don't care for crowded, high-rise steel and glass hotels, the small San Martin Hotel in Cartagena will be your good choice. This hotel in the heart of Bocagrande, a modern part of Cartagena, is small, clean and quiet. It is very close to the old town, to which you can take a taxi (for about $3, or take... More

I'll start my review saying booked at the last minute during high season (new years/xmas) so my rates ranged from $75-$150 a night, the majority being at the high end but I was pleased to get a room at a well reviewed hotel considering all things. The hotel is situated on a corner in bocagrande not far away from the... More

My parents and I stayed in Cartagena for 4 days and 4 nights. We flew in from Bogota to spend a few days in a different city. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. At first we thought with the street its on, it wouldn't be up to par. The staff was incredibly friendly.. Literally wouldn't let you do a... More

San Martin is a small hotel on a perfect location in Bocagrande, Cartagena. The rooms are tidy and quiet and the beds are very good. The breakfast buffet is good and well organized. The personel is friendly but could be a little more service-minded. Small inconveniences such as only one reading lamp, poor but ok ventilation are compensated by the... More

Stayed at the San Martin vor the 2nd time, while doing business in Cartagena. It's pretty good, nice breakfast and clean. It's not in the old city, but with a Taxi you are there in a couple of minutes and it's a lot cheaper then the hotels there. On the main road where it's located you'll find plenty of shops... More

Even though I have memberships in the major chain resort hotels, I keep coming back to this historic midsize hotel perfectly located between the beach and the bay on the vibrant San Martin Ave. The lobby's polished dark woods and exotic flowers welcome you immediately into Cartagena's rich South American culture, and the white coat staff is attentive and ready... This is my fifth time coming to this hotel now, I'm from Cartagena, Colombia, but, I live in Indianapolis. I always have great service from the people that work there, food is good, close to interesting places, & excellent pricing. They have nice rooms, that are always really clean, and the bathrooms are sufficient. If you want to have a... More

I stayed here for 5 nights with a friend on vacation. I had a love/hate relationship with this hotel, so I'll categorize my comments for easier reading: I'll categorize my comments for easy reading: Accomodations/Value/Service/Location: San Martin Hotel is in an OUTSTANDING location--a <10min taxi ride to the walled city (25min walking), there are tons of restaurants & shops on... My room was very clean with a modern bathroom, good sized safe and minibar. It was on the ground floor with a window looking into the inner courtyard, and people walking past all the time, so no view or daylight, but I didn’t stay here for the view! The WiFi was unreliable in my room but works best in the... More
