The location is good, very near loads of shops, restaurants and bars. But the actual hotel is very dated and needs to be completely refurbished from the foyer to the cafe to the rooms. We were just in Chengdu for the panda reserve, so given it was just a one night stay this wasn't a big deal. I'd recommend considering... More

Postive thing about this hotel is the location. Near many cool and busy places, nice to walk down the streets in the evening! However, the hotel is in need for some renovation. Rooms are a bit basic and need to be renovated as well.

We were staying here as part of a tour to southern China. The hotel is old and greatly in need of repair. The bed was clean but the rest of the room was in bad repair (as was much of the hotel). We complained and were moved to a floor that had been "refurbished", but I'm not sure what had... More

This hotel is located right at the downtown for shoping experience. At the same time, the People Park and major sightseeing places are nearby. Great bakery is right at the entrance. Breakfast is mixed with international and chinese selections. Manjong machines are available for leasure.

This hotel was booked for us by our hosts in China. We were quite impressed to see their economical rates. The room were spotlessly neat and clean and everything was in immaculate shape. The free breakfast can be called a five star breakfast although we could not take a number of pork dishes and had to rely on eggs and... More

Background: Chengdu, a major economic, transportation and communication centre in Western China, is the capital of the Sichuan province and home to the Panda Breeding Centre, the largest one of its kind in the world. The 22-storey Chengdu Garden City Hotel, a joint Sino-Singaporean venture to build a business hotel, was our tour group's overnight stopover en route to the Panda... More

Based upon previous reviews, this hotel was exactly as expected. The hotel itself seems to cater to Chinese businessmen - the room was relatively clean, smelled of stale cigarette smoke, and was quite low frill. On the plus side, the windows opened, good water pressure in shower, the toilet worked, free bottled water, and the breakfast had a lot of... More

Hotel itself was a bit outdated but because of location and price it is worth of a try. We had 12th story studio room with nice view to the smoky city. Room was quite small but in decent shape. Hotel staff did not speak any English.

Very poor quality hotel. Hotel is very dated, shabbily decorated, and smelt strongly of cigarettes. The hotel had sewage problems during my stay last week. I can't comment on value as it was part of an escorted trip - however it was consistently ranked as the worst hotel any of the party of 40 had ever stayed in.

Very average room with very hard bedding. Hopefully others didn't experience having to dam their bathrooms with towels from an overflowing toilet. This occurred late one evening after an idiot hotel "handyman janitor"had shoved goodness knows what down it to clear it ,but only succeeded in knocking the pipe off the back. Suffice to say not a happy experience. The... More
