I really enjoy you to read before booking here! We thought it would be fun and unique to stay in an old castle, so we tried. Very very disappointed! If you have high or average expectations, don't stay here! We first arrived and was warmly greeted by the staff. We were out in a room in the first floor, right... More

The Castle Hotel is in a great location with beautiful views. However, the furnishings are worn, and the facilities are dated (e.g. no USB slot in the TV). The services are also lacklustre. We called for in-room dining, but they refused to give us the menu and said that the bulk of the options were unavailable. The beds are also... More

Locarion is suoerb. A 80 years old castle (the hotel is newest than the Governor residence) top of a green hill 15 minutes away by walk to beaches and 10 minutes away from a temple with view all over the Qingdao bay. Rooms are large and each designed with their own style. I did a visit taken by the nice... More

Booked the Castle Hotel after reading the reviews here... comments which I read were mixed... Now I understand why there were mixed comments about this hotel. Castle Hotel is located in the top of a small hill within the Old Town of Qing Qao, the former German Quarters. It's within the compound of the Former German Governor's Residence. The old... More

Charming boutique Hotel set on a hill in the grounds of the former Governor's residence. Staff were very friendly and helpful - for example the staff went to the German restaurant next-door to obtain a Gin-and-Tonic for me because they did not have any Gin. The room was large and first class. It was a short 10 minute walk to... More

We arrived at the hotel At 1 am to a cosy-looking castle in the middle of no where. We thought the place is hunted as it was so far out and so deep in the woods. The lobby is like a small living room, with trendy design and warm feeling. The rooms are nice, spacious, and clean but for some... More

This is a refreshing and charming change from the standard upmarket Chinese hotel, often effectively on a motorway onramp, and as such impossible to walk from. It's a lovely old building (part of the one time German Governor's compound) with large, comfortable rooms, gorgeous art around the place and some terrific public spaces to while away some time. It's a... More

My client had so far booked rather strange hotels in China and so I decided to book myself and came across the Castle Hotel. Great location for a weeks stay, history (if you are German) and rather arty. Maybe a bit too much arty. Nice big rooms. (Needs more hoovering and carpet cleaning!). There is a Chinese Restaurant downstairs (not... More

Once I went into the hotel room, I thought the room was very small. The decoration and wallpaper were very old. It looked really unpleasant and aged. There were stains on the cushions and sofa. Besides, there were bad smell coming from the drainage in the bathroom. The awful smell spread to the whole room even if we closed the... More

THis is a great property in a nice location let down by service and maintenance which do not rise to the standards that the property deserves. A couple of specific points The staff were very friendly and tried hard but appeared under trained and there was probably just too many of them. Beds, you may as well sleep on te... More
