My first hostel in Qingdao was this old church I accidentally discovered in 2008. It is a historical building and one of the original international hostes in China. The rate for the dorm used to be 25 per head and it was the same in the early part of 2014. Not it has gone up to 30 RMB but still... More

I had a great stay at this hostel! This is my first stay ever at a hostel, and although it is worn out( peeling walls, scratched up wooden floors), but it had a cosy atmosphere to it. The staff were the friendliest ever. The place was worn out but clean. The bar below was such a great place to hang... More

When I first stayed in this place 5 years ago, without any doubts this hostel leaves me some brilliant memories, great location, reasonable price, nice old building, fancy bar, and quite convenient facilities... So this is my primary choice when I plan to visit Qingdao again this summer. I don't know what's happened during these years, all I can tell... More

We have visited this hostel on multiple occasions now including with a group of 25 teachers. It is a little worn in places and the rooms on the top floor suffer a bit from dampness. However, it is very affordable, conveniently located, the staff are hereelpful and speak good English. The bar offers a good selection of food and drinks... More

Kaiyu in the heart of old Qingdao was once a big church back in the day. Now it's put to much better use as a very nice place to stay. Yes, it's old. Yes, the floors are dirty and too old to polish the way that many are accustomed too. What matters is the bed and sheets... both were impeccably... More

We have stayed in a three bed room at fourth floor. The room was clean, but messed up in a way that doesn't count as 'torn and worn' anymore. The heating wasn't working properly, the plaster came down from the walls, a big mold spot on the ceiling.... but worse, due to the renovation at the first floor, there was dust everywhere, a lot of noise and no warm water to take a shower for almost three days. The staff is helpful and polite, but seems like the management takes out their mistakes on the employees.

This was a church that has been converted into a hostel. So the trappings of a church have been incorporated into the building. The hostel room I stayed in was a barebones setup with lockers similar to other hostels I've stayed in before. Did have to carry my luggage up a spiraling staircase which is obviously a holdover from its... More

We stayed in a private double room, which was dusty and quite worn. The room is also dark and the aircon smelled musty. There is also no room cleaning service, unlike some of the other Chinese hostels we've stayed in, so we lived in a messy room for three days. Our HI card had also expired and we asked to... More

I was staying a whole weekend in Kaiyue International Youth Hostel. It is very good to reach (10 min. Taxi from the station) and is located very close to the old town, Qingdao Bay and not too far away from the Beer Street. They also provide you with bikes to discover as much as you can of Qingdao. The Restaurant... More
