Kaiyu in the heart of old Qingdao was once a big church back in the day. Now it's put to much better use as a very nice place to stay. Yes, it's old. Yes, the floors are dirty and too old to polish the way that many are accustomed too. What matters is the bed and sheets... both were impeccably... More

We have stayed in a three bed room at fourth floor. The room was clean, but messed up in a way that doesn't count as 'torn and worn' anymore. The heating wasn't working properly, the plaster came down from the walls, a big mold spot on the ceiling.... but worse, due to the renovation at the first floor, there was dust everywhere, a lot of noise and no warm water to take a shower for almost three days. The staff is helpful and polite, but seems like the management takes out their mistakes on the employees.

This was a church that has been converted into a hostel. So the trappings of a church have been incorporated into the building. The hostel room I stayed in was a barebones setup with lockers similar to other hostels I've stayed in before. Did have to carry my luggage up a spiraling staircase which is obviously a holdover from its... More

We stayed in a private double room, which was dusty and quite worn. The room is also dark and the aircon smelled musty. There is also no room cleaning service, unlike some of the other Chinese hostels we've stayed in, so we lived in a messy room for three days. Our HI card had also expired and we asked to... More

I was staying a whole weekend in Kaiyue International Youth Hostel. It is very good to reach (10 min. Taxi from the station) and is located very close to the old town, Qingdao Bay and not too far away from the Beer Street. They also provide you with bikes to discover as much as you can of Qingdao. The Restaurant... More

I spent 2 nights in this hostel and it was my first time staying in a hostel, we booked the twin room with private bathroom. The hostel is located in a very convenient area and many small restaurants and attractions, including the no. 6 beach are within walking distance. The hostel is pretty old and the room smelled a bit... More

We stayed in a double room with a shared bathroom for six nights. The hostel is an old church so the rooms are a bit strange and pretty worn. But we think they keep this hostel very clean and we saw them clean the shared bathrooms and toilets several times a day. The 4th floor has a nice (but small)... More

Just stayed 3 nights at this hostel and generally speaking it's good, I have never tried hostel before though so can't compare with others out there. I stayed in a two bed room with shared shower/toilet facilities. the room is very basic, but the bedding is clean, no cleaning during your stay. there is NO taxi outside the train station... More

The place is built in an old church, the rooms are rather clean, the bar/lounge is very comfy and cosy. The place offers free WIFI in the rooms and everywhere in the hotel (except 4th floor i believe), The hotel is very quiet, close to the center, plenty of places to eat around. The staff is friendly (except the bar... More

We used this place for several nights in September 2011. Private room for two. CNY 180 per night at that time. The restaurant had a lot of space and we felt comfortable being there without ordering anything. We didn't know other places in China back then but looking back I can tell you that if you are not comfortable speaking... More
