Stayed part of tour, room was ok for one night Only!! Shower overflowed on whole floor, be careful you don't slip. Room could be cleaner for sure. Room overlooked garden which had various rubbish thrown down on it and I squashed a few ants in room as well !! Breakfast was barely edible but again close to Main Street (... More

Hotel is located some distance from the main tourist sites which means that you'll need a taxi as they are too far to visit. Staff were friendly but had very limited English. Reception area was nice but room was very old and tired and smelled of cigarette smoke. The hole place needed a refurb and a make-over. Buffet breakfast was... More

As with the other hotels we have stayed in in china the lobby area and reception are very nice but again this is not carried through to the rooms the room was smelly but on a more positive note had the best shower we have had while travelling in china the difference in this hotel is the friendly helpful staff... Stayed here as part of a tour so can't comment on the value of the room. It's a pretty basic room and it was clean. A kettle was provided for boiling water which is good. We travelled in winter and initially were not able to get the heater going. We headed out for lunch and on the way back to... More

From the lobby and entrance the hotel is fairly tidy and modern. I was quickly disappointed with the lack of English speaking staff. Checking in wasn't too much of an issue once I presented my passport, allowing them to pull up the reservation. Upon receiving my card, 3 different hotel room numbers were written on the card holder. Confused, I... More

This hotel has large rooms with a bar fridge. The dinner at the restaurant was very nice and had cheap white wine (38 yuan - white wine is hard to find in China). The carpet in the rooms was very dirty with stains on it and the bathroom door was very hard to slide shut. One of the bathroom towels... More

I stayed here as a part of a guided group tour with Geckos Adventures. My hotel room was modern and spacious compared with other hotels on my tour. Great airconditioning and even a small bar fridge (the first i saw in China). Free wi-fi only available in the lobby area, not in my room. I paid 38 yuan for breakfast... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Traveler Inn Gusu Hotel as a part of a guided tour in early April 2013. It was a pleasant surprise! The room was clean, the bathroom quite modern, good location. The hotel offered a Chinese style buffet breakfast for 20 yuan. Good choice for Suzhou.

I was only there for two nights but the room was spacious, if a bit shabby and the hot water was patchy. It had a fridge which I didn't use so can't comment on but was quiet and clean and has wifi and the public areas are very clean and modern. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, with both Euro and... I stayed at this hotel as part of a guided tour. The hotel boasted a gym and a lake, both of whcih were very well hidden as I was unable to find them. At the side was a cleared area that looked as if it was about to be re-developed. I was there 1 night and found it in a... More
