Stayed here on a Wendy Wu tour. Lovely little place in a great location. Liked the gardens and the canal alongside the hotel. Plenty of places to stroll in the evening. Pity we could not have stayed another night. Would be happy to return as independent travellers.

Loved this place. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful surroundings and a very smart bedroom. Location was great. Beds were a little hard but that's the Chinese way. Breakfast was chaotic and they need a designer to sort out the logistics of people movement but it wouldn't put me off. The Master of the Nets garden is nearby so you can... More

Every bit as lovely and well-situated as other reviews have indicated. Right in the center of the town, literally steps from the Master of the Nets garden and a RMN30 taxi ride from the Humble Administrators garden. A charming series of separate buildings within a gated, attractively-landscaped campus. Staff is friendly and willing to help – perhaps too willing (see... More

Non-smoking rooms were located in another building. If you have heavy luggage, a bell hop is available to help. Maybe it's the climate but the towels always feel slightly damp. There are free internet in the rooms with monitor and keyboard but we use our own netbook. Shower was separate from tub. It was in same area with toilet which... More

Garden Hotel is affordable for those on a budget wanting something more pleasant than just a hostel or cheap dive. Whilst it does not offer a pool; rooms are well placed and out of the way from the main road. The rooms, offering a couple of foreign channels including The BBC, are clean and beds are more than comfortable. The... More

I would like to have stayed her longer, we only had one night, the gardens were beautiful. The lifts were small and slow, so walked up the stairs to our room on the 2nd floor. Room was comfortable and clean Well appointed hotel, I went for a walk along the streets, the canal runs along the back of the hotel,... More

My friend and I were doing an internship in Shanghai and decided to visit Suzhou for the weekend. After looking through countless of hotel reviews and comparing prices, we settled for this one... we definetely made the right choice! The rooms are affordable and comes with complementary breakfast. Our bedroom even had a view of the garden! Like most of... More

Set amongst lovely gardens incorporating board walks and koi pools. The rooms can be a long walk from reception, but all under cover. The lift is small and slow, but it beats the stairs.Rooms are large and comfortable. The lingering Garden is a short stroll, and a little further you find Pedestrian Street, full of restaurants and variety stores. There... More

My wife and I only stayed one night as part of our Wendy Wu tour. As compared to some of the other hotels we stayed in during our 21 days in China, the Garden Hotel was pretty good. The room was alright but had a (background) lingering smell of tobacco smoke even though it was supposed to be non-smoking. The... More
