It was my first time in Xiamen as well as staying in Marco Polo . My overall experience throughout my 1 week stay was pleasant. At that time, the hotel was under going minor renovation, but it did not affect my stay. The hotel staffs were extremely helpful & nice and speaking English was never a problem. Taxi can be... more

I stayed there 3 nights on my first week and 2 on my way back. Availability of good English was excellent, so you could get what you required. It's an average 4 hotel no problems and value for money. Its location is slightly out of the main shopping area, but taxi's are cheap if you have your destination written and... more

Stayed at the Marco Polo for 10 days on business. Booked an Executive Room, but when I arrived I was offered a Suite for $40 USD/night more. Looked at the Executive Room that had a dark worn-out feel, so I accepted the Suite at about $320/night with tax. The Suite was excellent - top floor, lake view, very clean and... more

The Marco Polo is well located on the edge of a man-made lake in the city. It is slightly jaded, having been around for about ten years, but is, generally, ok. Rooms fairly comfortable, public areas quite acceptable. Breakfast is awful! Cold, poor quality food and absolutely chaotic service. Rates are rather expensive for the standards it offers. more

Stayed at Marco Polo, Xiamen for 4days 3nights and enjoyed each of my day there. Before I even reached Xiamen, Danny, the GM already assured my reservation with hotel pick up via email! His reponse is prompt too! Really appreciate it :) About the staff - On the day of arrival, received with warm welcome from staff who came to... more

Good hotel. Service outstanding from all staff. Room a little smaller than expected (king size double bed) but seemed refurbished with new carpet. Airconditioning worked well. Free bottled water and safe in room were very good. Chinese restaurant at the hotel is relatively cheap (Y44 for evening smorgasbord). Good Italian restaurant and Australian coffee ship in the street outside (shortcut... more

I would definitely suggest staying somewhere other than the Marco Polo while in Xiamen. Good Points: 1. Room was clean 2. Most staff were courteous 3. Nice location and outside surrounding area Bad Points: 1. Although clean, room looked old when compared to other hotels in China 2. Very expensive for what you get. I paid 710RMB per night. Definitely... more

I travel to Xiamen about 6 times a year and on most occassions choose to stay at the Marco Polo. The hotel is about 10 yrs old now on a lake in Xiamen. It is primarily a hotel that caters to business travelers from all the countries of the world. The hotel staff is effecient, courteous and very proffesional. On... more
