Diego de Almegro is a nice hotel in Punta Arenas. It is right on the strait, make sure you get a room overlooking the water "vista al mar", (I think odd number rooms.) Hotel is a 3 1/2 to 4 star in the US. Rooms are fine, tvs are fairly old (no HDMI ports etc) sometime a light might not... More

We enjoyed the hotel. Our kids loved the pool which was a nice warm break from the howling winds outside. The breakfasts were good with a good variety of food to choose from. The location gave us a nice view of the waterfront and walk way, and it was easy to get out to the harbour for our excursion to... More

Stayed at the hotel just one night on way to Torres del Paine NP. Traveled with a group, so did not select th hotel on my own (but would do so next time). Hotel was very good. Had a fine group dinner there (well served), and the breakfast was a five-star buffet. Rooms are large and clean, and the hot... More

stayed on return from Antarctica. opp waterfront, and short walk to casino (10 min) and town centre (15min). Rooms good size and comfortable, in Oz wold be 3 1/2 to 4 star. Breakfast v good, didn't have dinner there. Front of house staff only average, porter mostly elsewhere, desk staff abrupt though not unpleasant

Punta Arenas is a little town worth exploring. Freezing cold as you are not far from the Antarctic (you are very aware of that). People very friendly and very safe to walk around the hotel, which is right on the sea front. Did not eat in the hotel and had a boxed breakfast due to an early flight.

I stayed for 2 night on a stop over. The hotel itself is located 100m from the sea side overlooking the sea. There is a major road passing close to the hotel and traffic noise in the night can be very disturbing (even on the 7th floor). Thankfully my room was on the other side so no traffic noise but... Hotel is ok, has a good location, close to several restaurants, nice view from my room. Went there on business (3 nights) so room and service was all I really cared about. Tiny gym and and small pool. Not really the best choice if you are travelling with family. Restaurant exceeded my expectations but I wouldn't call it great. It... More

Stayed over a week at Diego de Almagro Hotel in Punta Arenas, Chile while my honey recovered from surgery. The hotel has a good downtown location and offers free parking in their garage. Breakfast is included in the rate and has a good variety of choices. Free wifi, a business center with two computers and a printer are also included... More

I agree with reviews about it being tired, overpriced and need of re-do. The staff is pleasant. The food in the dining room is ok but expensive. The breakfast was OK. Room was comfortable but a bit worn. Either the heat was on or off and nothing in between. I changed after two days to the Best Western (here for... More

The hotel can be likened to a Travelodge in the UK. The rooms are relatively large but could do with a refurbishment. The view from the rooms overlooking the sea is good but there is a road between the hotel and the sea seemingly beloved of boy racers with old cars and large exhausts. The hotel itself was very noisy... More
