Erratic Rock 2 is the perfect place for a couple to stay before taking on the Torres del Paine trek. When we stayed, in mid March, it was very quiet, clean and the staff were warm and helpful. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were clean and in good condition. Kitchen was a little small but the eating area... More

As others have mentioned, the staff here are excellent (English speaking) and the breakfast was really quite good for the area. The rooms however are completely without any sound isolation and it was difficult to get a good night sleep (even with earplugs). This of course depends on your neighbors, but it was the equivalent of sleeping in a shared... More

We really enjoyed our nights here before and after TDP. Very helpful and friendly (and English speaking) staff, very clean and comfy rooms, and good breakfast. A great perk is the Storage service they offer, which allows you to leave any non-necessary items while you're hiking the W and whatnot. Leave everything you can! As others have said the walls... This was the most hostel-like of the places we stayed our our trip through Patagonia. It was a small room, but adequate for an overnight stay. As it was a hostel we made use of the kitchen to cook a meal. It was nice to have a couple of hamburger patties, and microwave baked potatoes -- simple food at a... More

Our room was very comfortable. Ella at the front desk spoke perfect English which we appreciated not knowing Spanish well. A wonderful breakfast of fresh eggs, juice and cereal greeted us in the morning. Thank you!

The hostel runs a free talk everyday at 3pm. They also do rentals of equipment, etc. I signed up for a guided trek and turned out way more expensive than other local options. The fact that an American runs it, staffed by individuals who speak good English, probably explains the extra price they charge. I was given a guide who... More

We stayed at Erratic 2 for three reasons. 1) Erratic Rock (and Erratic Rock 2, where we actually stayed) is probably one of the most hyped hostels in the trekking/climbing/Patagonian world - particularly for their free talk about trekking Torres del Paine. 2) The American Alpine Club advertises a 25% discount for card carrying members (we were promised a 10%... Nice, clean hotel located close to the bus station, a couple of blocks from downtown, the (well-stocked and very affordable) supermarket and the ATMs, and a couple of more blocks from the waterfront. The staff is great! I've had lots of fun chatting with them, and they were as helpful as they were friendly. Rooms are clean and comfy, with... More

Ella was extremely helpful and friendly to us the moment we stepped foot into ER2. She gave us tips for our 'W' trek as well as restaurant recommendations in town. When she heard that the Chilean border was closed due to the labor strike, she even called our bus company to find out the details to make sure we could... More

The hostel itself is fine, the rooms are basic and clean although the walls are paper thin. The staff on the other hand are entirely incompetent and extremely rude. It all started when we arrived at 11pm after a 15hr bus trip and surprisingly were told by 'Ella' that we needed to pay in advance for our room. We were... More
