First off the owners are very friendly and they greet you with juice and cake while you are settling in and filling out your paper work. You are also left with places to visit and things to do, along with a map and help tips. You must go to the port and go out for a boat ride followed by... More

I really enjoyed my stay at Sunny Days! The hosts, a couple from New Zealand and Chile, are just lovely and really contributed to making this stay exceptional. The breakfast was much better than at other hostels I stayed including a selection of cereal, fruits, yoghurt, bread, cheese and really good coffee! We even got beach towels for free. The... More

A bit hard to find, but conveniently located near the beach, it is a wonderfull little hostal to: 1) meet fellow travellers 2) meet fellow surfers (ask Ross, the owner, for local surfers contact numbers) Ross, the owner, will greet you and guide you through the quick check-in protocol and give you a quick overview of Arica. The common area... More

When my friends and I first arrived at Sunny Days after a 16 hour bus ride from Peru, we were impressed by how clean and nice it was. However, later on in the evening we asked one of the owners for recommendations on a place to eat that would have vegetarian options (2 of our party being vegetarian.) After an... More

We thank the reviewer for their comments. As an owner I made a serious mistake – which was inexcusable. The guest asked for a recommendation where they could get a vegetarian meal which was quite a reasonable request. The problem is there are very few vegetarian restaurants or places to obtain vegetarian meals in South America and Arica in particular... More

Not in the center (20' walk). but very close to the beach. Little restaurants and market nearby. All rooms very very clean. Plenty of common-space and bathrooms. Beds were comfy and the kitchen well equipt. Wifi was fast and stable and the owners nice, friendly and helpful (English and Spanish). Best of all was the breakfast at the huge table... More

Thanks Dryanta for the review and apprecitaing our humble home for international travellers. You state our goal - To make our hostal a "home away from home", it gives us a lot of motivation to continue to strive to satisfy our guests 24/ 7 , 365 days of the year. It is not always easy. More

Hostal sunny days Wow what a welcome! Lovely kiwi guy owns the place is a hive of knowledge. I slept like a log here - so quiet, comfortable beds, hot shower, thick fluffy towels provided and clean sheets on our bed. Plenty of toilet roll and soap provided in the bathroom. Good facilities in the many kitchens in this place... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The breakfast was included and it was the best breakfast I've had at a hostel in South America. The bed was comfy though nothing special. Tried to bargain on prices but Ross, the owner, shot me down very quickly. Showers were not consistently hot but still nice. Lots of common... More

One of the most well run independent hostels I've ever seen. Run by a Kiwi/Chilean couple, it has everything a hostel should have, great showers, close to beach bus and markets, and the wifi was the best I'd used in weeks (backup your phones folks!). Excellent big dinner table style social group breakfast. I'd definitely come again if I'm ever... More

We thank Fotoadict for his review and appreciate his comments. We studies tourism before opening the hostal and had the opportunity to visit a good number within New Zealand, which really has a good model for prospective hostal owners to follow. There is much more to a good backpackers hostal than having regular parties and those are the features we... More

Stayed there for 2 nights on October 2015 and it was really cozy and fun. The owners welcomed my friend and me with warm and made our stay really comfortable from A to Z (even the house cat Q was adorable). There is hot water, toilet paper, internet and even a printer that is free to use! The hostel is... More

I really liked this hostel and was 100% thanks to the hospitality of the owner! Ross makes you feel welcome (with a piece of homemade cake and a drink) and tells you everything you need to know about the area. The breakfast is great. There's a large area for sitting/chilling and a kitchen with lots of supplies. It's near the... More

We thank Myrthe for her kind review. It was luck that we are so close to a fruit & veg market (it was a blue jeans textile factory) It was also luck that they rebuilt the supermarket under a new name near us after it closed a few years ago. The rest, the good breakfast. The service, and how we... More
