Stayed here for 4 nights, good location and nice enough food too. Reception was generally friendly, especially the female staff member. We chose the fan option (our own mistake!) would really really advise against that if you are used to colder climes. There were also far nicer rooms in the hostel, ours was a bit grim, but you get what... More

We were planning on staying here due to the trip advisor reviews, but when we showed up we were very disappointed. The front area looked nice but the lady working there was completely unfriendly despite our best efforts to be nice. The room we were shown was very dingy and small though cheap. $7 but still not worth it we... More

Sorry you we'rent happy with the IVY Experience. There aren't many budget GH left in SR, so for 7 dollars they are basic rooms. However they are clean, well looked after, and less dingy with the light on. Rooms upstairs are a lot nicer though, and my staff should have shown you them, so apologies for that. As for the... More

Double bed, fan room upstairs was clean and comfortable although they'd clearly put two singles together. Room had a plug socket, desk and chair, shelves and hanging space. The bathroom was a bit run-down, the toilet's flush wasn't great and the shower was cold water only (although this didn't matter as at the end of March/April it's 40 Celsius anyway).... More

Excellent budget option. Clean and comfortable rooms, amazing food (both local and western) and really friendly staff. You can even book bus tickets and sightseeing tours right at the reception. And very conveniently located as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Ivy Gh is a really nice and clean place. the price is affordable, this was one or our main reason why we choose the place, and we were extremely satisfied. We first day we had a room on the ground floor, a bit muggy (the windows can't be opened for security reason) we asked then to change the room and... More

The Ivy has a great location and atmosphere, complete with a pool table downstairs and a TV balcony lounge upstairs. Rooms are basic, and the essentials are clean: beds, floor, bathroom. Our experience there wasn't entirely favorable. The room was pinched for space with two single beds that partially blocked the bathroom entrance, a window that was fixed glass and... More

This place is very well located, not so far from the temples and not too close from the pub street where it's really noisy. It is one of the cheapest in town. The food is good but a little bit expensive. The room is clean and the bathroom too. The only bad thing are the mosquitos, too Many! But the... More

Simply the best place yo stay and eat in Siem Reap we have stayed there many times and can honestly say that the staff and food are second to none. Situated in a great place within easy reach of the Old Market area and with a reliable and friendly in house tuk tuk service to the temples and beyond. This... More

Great place to stay on a budget. Stayed for a week. Was fully booked most of the time (in peak season). Conveniently located close to Pub street, markets, cafes, restaurants, laundries and interesting places. Tuk-tuks always nearby. Staff had great English and helpful manner. Great upstairs communal lounge to relax in after a hot day on your feet. Rooms simple... More

I would strongly recommend this guesthouse for those on a tight budget. The rooms are basic, no a/c but a fan was sufficient to keep cool, bed was average. I'm not sure if there was hot water as it was so hot all the time I didn't really need it. The area was generally pretty quiet, and cant hear any... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The original Ivy opened in December 1999, as the second western run business in the Old Market (by a couple of months). Owners Karl & Vannary have been catering to Siem Reap backpackers ever since and provide a warm homely atmosphere in which to enjoy your time visiting Angkor and the surrounding area. The guesthouse has 20 rooms (8 single w/fan, 8 double w/fan and 4 double a/c) all with en-suite facilities. The current Guesthouse opened in 2005 and is conveniently located along the Siem Reap river just minutes from the Old Market area and the center of town, it has since been improved with more rooms, air-conditioning and wifi-facilities. The Ivy provides a perfect budget option in the heart of Siem Reap. The simple rooms are cleaned everyday and are great for travellers trying to get a feel of Siem Reap before the rapid development of recent years. Whilst Siem Reap and Phnom Penh have rushed to develop over the past decade the majority of Cambodians are still farmers and live very simply in the countryside. The pace of life is slow and relaxed and family is the most important aspect of people’s lives. The Ivy reflects this ideology and provides a fantastic atmosphere to relax and unwind after a day's exploration. Take advantage of the highspeed internet, unwind in the lounge, grab a hammock on the upstairs balcony or veg out on the sofa and watch some cable TV. The Ivy provides laundry service, bicycle rental, as well as bus and tuk-tuk reservations. Our English speaking staff are a wealth of local information and can assist you in booking trips to Angkor Wat and the surrounding area as well as inbound and onward travel. All at no extra charge. The Ivy and its owners also prides itself on making some of the best food at incredible value for money. Vannary is the executive chef and Karl the happy food taster. The all day breakfast is renowned and suitably large enough to sustain a long day out. The Khmer food is cheap and is prepared perfectly, this is complemented by an wide range of western favourites selected from menu created by a western chef exclusively for the Ivy back in 2001. There are also regular tapas and world food evenings and occasionally freebies of Vannary’s latest new dishes. Find out why we are a firm favourite of the expat community in Siem Reap. ... more   less
