Beautiful old colonial building right in the centre of Siem Reap. Communal balcony has views of river and street. Khmer owned and run with lots of helpful staff. Double rooms small and Bathrooms old and dated but Shadow still is great value for money.

Arriving at 4am, the staff were very helpful in welcoming us and quickly checking us in. Throughout our stay - around five nights in the end - the hotel and accompanying restaurant staff really made us feel at home. Whilst the rooms weren't anything to rave about, they did the job, and the air con was good at keeping it... More

I stay 5 nights, the room was clean every day, no problem on this point. it's quite silent, nice balcony with view on the river. good for the price, the restaurant is really good, like the amok dishes and the waitress are sympathic.

The staff are really nice and the location is perfect, but the room is really not clean. They gave our room to someone else on the first night and the room we got had mold. Our second room was ok but we had to move again because we had to stay for another night. The last room's bathroom had bad... More

I stayed 5 nights here and would happily stay here again. The rooms are a little shabby but they are comfortable and clean enough. You get what you pay for, if you're clean freak you might not want to stay here but if not i'd highly recommend it. The staff were very helpful and arranged my tour of anghor wat.... More

This is the small hotel, more like a Guesthouse next to the river and close to the old market and busy streets. Location is just perfect, so we didn't bother ourselves with some other things, like small rooms, noisy AC and weird shower. But for this price what can you expect, so overall brilliant value for money.

Not sure why this place got such a high rating in lonely planet - it was certainly adequate, a basic room with AC and it does have a great location - but the service wasn't great (the guy at the front desk got really angry and was rude after we said we didn't want to use his tuk tuk service... Lovely place close to the markets and pub street! Enjoyed the stay, clean rooms and verandah attached if you need! Quiet and cosy! Value for money! The host was an extremely nice and elderly person and was very welcoming! Recommend.

1. Nice location. Very close to Old Market & Pub Street. 2. Rooms are OK with basic provisions. 3. Nice restaurant. 4. It's just a little uncomfortable waking up the guard & frontdesk if come in late because they lock the doors. But the people there are really very nice. If you just know how to use your charm &... There were several problems with our stay that we were happy to laugh off and overlook (for example, not taking our reservation properly despite 2 detailed emails, stained and old bedsheets, no water in our bathroom for short periods of time), but we have a flexible definition of comfort and didn't cause a fuss. Checking out however was when it... More
