i stayed in amansara in october 2005, but seeing all the bad reviews now, i felt i had to write a comment on what was a very special experience to me. at the time i was visiting, the extension wasn't yet there, so there were only original rooms. b/c it is so small, it was very peaceful and relaxing. there... more

Poor value overall. I expected so much more from the touted 6-star hotel group, especially for $1,000/nt. Staff were friendly and attentive, but all craved that discrete tip. My wallet was pulled out of my pocket more times for tipping than the number of temple pictures photographed. Had terrible experience at their spa. Higher management outside the country refused to... more

My husband and I are very demanding customers and we always find things to complain about in most top end 5 stars hotels. But Amansara was simply perfect. The level of details and attention of the service was truly impressive. All the staff knows every customer's name, they are very discreet and you always find them when you need them... more

This is the most overpriced and poor value Aman resort in my experience. The room standard was average (particularly unnerving was the private dipping pool which looked to contain dirty water) and well below the best of Aman quality. Another aggravation in the suite...the toilet was not separated from the shower area. The biggest disappointment was dinner. The hotel slaps... more

Stayed at Amansara at the end of a trip to Thailand and Cambodia with our children (ages 21 and 25). In a word, the hotel is fantastic! Small and intimate with a sense of warmth and hospitality that is rare. From the General Manager, Toby to the entire staff, they raise hotel service to an art form. They truly have... more

To celebrate our anniversary and birthdays last month (November 2006), we wanted to see the famous temples of Cambodia - which also provided us a perfect opportunity to stay at Amansara. After an overnight stay in Singapore, we landed at the recently built Siem Reap airport where an Amansara guest advisor was waiting for us. The advisor was very friendly... more

I had some serious doubts about whether the Amansara represented good value, given my intention to spend most of the day at the temples, but it was well worth it. Very different from the four other Aman resorts I have tried, but the staff transports the high standard of service into a unique setting The resort is not large, but... more

The phrase "attention to detail" just does not cover it. From the moment we arrived, our experience was incredible. The staff and service were all you would expect of an Aman resort. The Angor tours were fabulous, our guide was very good and his life experiences very touching. Each day was planned to avoid the tourists masses and give you... more

In truth we didn't stay there but having read all the hype we went there for dinner one evening. We found the place to be atmospherically chilly. I had expected beautiful Zen like stillness but it seemed quite lifeless. Th dining room was vast - very high- and the food was the ultimate disappointment. Lovely service but dull and expensive... more

I never understood the big fuss about all the Aman Hotels and the very fact why there are so-called Aman Junkies. That was, until I had my first Aman experience in Amansara. It starts with a no-fuss check-in wherein you are directed to a short tour of the property, then directed right away to your suite. Everything is just plain... more
