Situated at the top of the Schafberg mountain accessible by mountain steam train from St Wolfgang. Magnificent views over the northern Alps with Grossglockner at 3800m in the distance. An extensive menu and fast service with plentiful seating out on the terrace.

I went here twice in a week, the first time freezing cold and torrential rain and I had a massive sweet dumpling and my friend a plate of cheeses and of course we sat inside. Historic, classic and comfortably functional accommodation where everything worked wonderfully and was spotlessly clean. Friendly, helpful staff but we feel that they should have brought our attention to the magnificent and breathtaking surroundings which we stumbled upon at sunset. We ordered two dishes (a salat and goulash) and both dishes were rather small compared to the price. The quality was okay, but like I said to pricy. The service was good and very fast. A very positive point is the amazing view.

Located on top of Schaftberg Mountain and accessed by a wonderful mountain railway, this unique hotel is a must for the bucket list traveller. The Schafbergspitze Hotel has not been discovered by mass tourism. Although the cog railway carries hundreds of tourist up and down the mountain during the day very few stay for the night. Unfortunately the weather on the day we were visiting this hotel was atrocious! We stayed here 1 night in the hope of getting a stunning sunrise, unfortunately all we got was fog. The hotel itself was absolutely fine.
