Situated at the top of the Schafberg mountain accessible by mountain steam train from St Wolfgang. Magnificent views over the northern Alps with Grossglockner at 3800m in the distance. An extensive menu and fast service with plentiful seating out on the terrace.

I went here twice in a week, the first time freezing cold and torrential rain and I had a massive sweet dumpling and my friend a plate of cheeses and of course we sat inside. The second time sat on the terrace watching hang gliders, too hot to move, had cheese and bread and buttermilk, the view is superlative and... More

Historic, classic and comfortably functional accommodation where everything worked wonderfully and was spotlessly clean. Friendly, helpful staff but we feel that they should have brought our attention to the magnificent and breathtaking surroundings which we stumbled upon at sunset. If you're taking the cogwheel train to the top, take the trouble to stay the night so that you too can... More

We ordered two dishes (a salat and goulash) and both dishes were rather small compared to the price. The quality was okay, but like I said to pricy. The service was good and very fast. A very positive point is the amazing view.

Located on top of Schaftberg Mountain and accessed by a wonderful mountain railway, this unique hotel is a must for the bucket list traveller. We caught the last train at 4 pm in a wet grey day and saw very little on the 40min journey up the mountain. The hotel is at the peak of the mountain, a short steep... More

I have never experienced such apalling service or lack of care for guests as at this hotel this weekend! We stayed at the hotel as part of a large group of adults and children celebrating a birthday. Despite booking almost every room in the hotel as well as a 3 course evening meal and drinks for ca 70 guests, we... More

The Schafbergspitze Hotel has not been discovered by mass tourism. Although the cog railway carries hundreds of tourist up and down the mountain during the day very few stay for the night. If the weather cooperates you will be rewarded not only with one of the best views in the Alps, serenity and a gorgeous sunset and sunrise the next... More

Unfortunately the weather on the day we were visiting this hotel was atrocious! We were thirty people of varying ages carrying overnight bags but when we arrived at the end of the railway line there was no-one to meet us or even any signs to show where the hotel was. Because it was pouring with rain and blowing a gale... More

We stayed here 1 night in the hope of getting a stunning sunrise, unfortunately all we got was fog. The hotel itself was absolutely fine. We got a deal which covered the return journey on the cog railway and 1 night bed and breakfast. The room was ver clean, we had a balcony but as the fog was so thick... More

My friend and I had lunch here yesterday. I have a guilty conscience because I persuaded her it would be good. I won't exaggerate, the food was edible but that's the best I can say. This place is soulless. The management are clearly focused exclusively on making euros and not on pleasing customers. The service was abrupt and the food... More
