We write this review after lengthy discussion surrounding our experience there at Strandhotel Margaretha for four nights this past June (2014). It's our fifth stay in the Salzkammergut over several years and we looked forward to new accommodations this year that fit the ritz and glitz shown at the website. We have been eyeing the hotel for about three years... More

We spent a wonderful week here on a half board basis. The evening meals were excellent providing five courses with 3 choices for the main course. One of the courses is a salad buffet, which was good contingency should you not like the main course!. The restaurant staff were always courteous and helpful, the service was prompt but you were... This is overall a great hotel, fantastic location, stunning views of the lake, convenient for the cog railway and ferries. Our room's balcony had a Great Lake view, room was slightly on the side of the hotel. On the plus side: location, balcony, lake view, good staff, good food, covered veranda for dining and relaxing. On the down side: room... More

We booked this hotel through Thompson holidays, which helped with the price. We found it nearly perfect for our two week stay on half-board in July. The hotel is located near the Schafbergbahn, so good for the mountain railway, with nearby ship and bus stops. It is separated from the actual lakeside by road, which is not too busy. It... More

What a great stay we had in St Wolfgang, all due to the wonderful Strandhotel Margaretha. We had a short stay between Christmas and New years, and it was a cracker. Friendly Staff and most accommodating, and a good continental breakfast. We had a great view of the lake and the mountain from our balcony. Rooms were large, clean and... More

My wife and I have visited the Strandhotel Margaretha in 2010 og 2011, so we were delighted to stay in Wolfgangsee room 205 with view of the lake and mountains. We had booked the room for 8 days in the period 09.07.2014-16.07.2014. We quickly discovered that the hotel had changed for the worse. All former staff was replaced by young... More

It's marketed as a 4-star hotel and it really is. We felt good during our stay there, the view and the access to the lake didn't change anything of that. It is NOT located in the center of St. Wolfgang, about a km from it. But it didn't matter for us.

My wife and I have just returned from a week in the Margaretha, booked through a UK travel company. The hotel is very good, family owned, staffed by efficient and friendly people who did everything to make our stay really enjoyable. We had a "side lake view" room which was large and gave us access to a large balcony with... More

My wife and I have just returned from a very enjoyable 10 nights stay at the Hotel Margaretha at the beginning of June, as part of a half board package booked through Thomson (Chrystal). The location of the hotel right on the beautiful lake front, close to the Shafberg train and the ferry terminus is very convenient and the centre... More
