This hostel is located about 5-10 minutes walk away from Potosi's central square so it's not too noisy but is still close to the shops and restaurants. Staff were quite nice, and I booked the the mine tour through them which was very interesting (though slightly more expensive than if you shop around and find a tour yourself). Rooms and... More

This is a nice place to stay, well located, room a little too small for so many beds, but the matress was really good... They have a nice kitchen, a good breakfeast (lots of fruits) and a nice common area. Internet wasn´t working fine when I was there. Great heating in the room...Potosi is really cold at night so I... We stayed in the Koala Den twice during our travels through Bolivia and really liked the place. The facilities our pretty basic, but that fact is made up for by the very friendly and warm staff that really made us feel welcome (which is certainly not always the case in Bolivia). When we stayed there they had a box full... More

This hostel was alright, but certainly not the best during my trip. The location is a bit weird... I felt kind of unsafe wandering around the backstreets in search of this hostel. It´s not a street where I wanted to be as a girl alone after sunset. However, the people working here are super nice. The rooms were tiny and... More

The hostel was nice, clean with hot showers and heating at night. The breakfast was good, scrambled eggs and the woman giving it was very kind. We also booked a minetour through them. Unfortunately it was on a Sunday so there wouldnt be as many workers in the mine (but they warned us in the beginning). Because of the time... More

Koala Den is cozy, warm, and great place to stay in Potosi. The communal area with couches and cats was awesome. The kitchen was big and well stocked. The beds were nice and almost too warm with all of the covers. The best breakfast I've had in all of Bolivia. It includes fruit, eggs, toast and juice. Don't forget to... More

This place has a very big book exchange, some of the books are questionable, but still lots to choose from. The beds in the dorm were comfy and the bunk beds were stable (however, the bottom bunks have very little headroom). The staff were great, they seemed genuinely happy. The only downside was the bathroom was a little grungy and... More

The place was a little rough around the edges and the noise of the other guests carried right up to the rooms from the communal area BUT it absolutely did the job for a couple of nights. I think we were unlucky with a loud group of America kids so maybe it's not that noisy all the time. On the... More

I stayed there an entire month and can't praise this place enough and say how well you are treated there as a customer. Clean and cheap housing as well as a very helpful staff will make your stay at the Koala Den more than comfortable, and they serve some of the best breakfast (toasts, eggs, fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice)... Koala Den was a great find, recommended to us by friends. The staff are good crack, very pleasant and the breakfast they serve is very good (scrambled eggs as well as fruit, bread / toast and juice). We booked a double room which had a huge bed, perhaps a little big for the room, but we had a great nights... More
