Upfront I would linke to stress the fact, that we habe only enjoyed the Restaurant. Hence I can not judge in the quality of the hotel. Although the building has somewhat come of age, the food is still excellent and the view over the bay oft Viña del Mar is breathtaking. We had Pisco Sour as aperitif and mussels as... More

Saw the Planet reviews so we booked with #1 rating in town as our guide. Not even close. Not one square meter of wallpaper in our room wasn't gouged, scratched or peeling. Threadbare carpets and tacky furniture. Great view of harbor affected by years of accumulated guano on roof. Still, it was interesting.....like an old photo album that gives a... More

We arrived late and our room was large, oddly furnished, with a balcony overlooking the crashing waves below. We had a nice, unmemorable dinner, a good sleep, an OK breakfast. The place seemed to have seen better days. The staff spoke a little English. Would not stay here again.

I will say right away that this hotel is not going to be for everyone, but we loved it. You are out over the water, so when we would walk out to our balcony, the birds/seagulls are flying all around and landing on our railing. Our room was perfect in that you could lay on the bed and look out... More

I am a world traveler, married to a Chilean, so am surprised by the reviews claiming the wonders of this hotel. The view is fantastic and the view wonderful from room 6. The puzzlement comes from the following. Grotty big room key-no one told us to turn it in at the front desk so at 3:30 in the afternoon room... More

This hotel was built in 1936. I love everything vintage, but this hotel shows some important run-down. It is painful to see and experience, because the place is a gem and could even have historical value for visitors of Viña if correctly refurbished. If you pay attention to old photos of the hotel (displayed by the hotel reception), you will... More

I have stayed at this hotel eight or nine times since 2005. It is always my only choice when I come to Vina (I have also stayed at the location in Santiago). This is definitely not your standard hotel. If you are from North America and want a standard business hotel, try the Sheraton up the road at over twice... More

We didn't stay overnight here but you can't walk by this ocean liner designed hotel/restaurant without being intrigued. We lingered over lunch, the view, watching the diving pelicans, enjoying the atmosphere. The food was okay - nothing special but after some really awful over salted, overcooked meals in Chile and Argentina 'average' worked for us. But the Chilean wines recommended... More

We passed by this restaurant during the day while walking around Vina del Mar. Immediately we were intrigued by its unique location and structure however it seemed slightly run-down during the day. There were tons of pelicans sitting atop the building leaving droppings everywhere. Needless to say, we skipped the restaurant for lunch. However for dinner we really wanted to... More

We stayed at The Cap Ducal in Vina del Mar while visiting our daughter who did a study abroad in Valparaiso Jan.-Aug. 2011. The place is amazing!!! We had one of the suites on the top floor-- windows for 180 degrees. A view of a German Castle, the sea and the city of Vina del Mar.A huge bedroom, nothing but... More
