a bit hard to find as it is inside Al Fahidi fort, the building is an artifact in itself. comfortable, quiet, and a stone's throw from the ruins of Dubai's old city wall. free breakfast in the courtyard. it's in a different world from the Dubai of today.

The rack rate for an ordinary heritage room is 1000Ds. This is a complete rip off. Rooms are small and furnished with recent copies of what is perceived to be 'antique' furniture. The little chest comes from Marina Home because I have one and the rest of it is from recent origins as well. The bath was awfully narrow and... More

This guest house is situated in the old part of Dubai. We stayed in a small room off the main courtyard, with a nice bathroom and decor. We found the place to be quiet, had a local flavor, near some interesting restaurants, and was in the middle of the Bastakiya Historical area. The price was very reasonable for Dubai and... More

If you are looking for something akin to a traditional Arab Riad, then this may suit. It's located in old Dubai, very close to the Dubai Fort Museum amongst a small medina of similar looking buildings and warren of alleys. Once you enter through the wooden doors it opens into a traditional courtyard with the rooms running off this and... More

The room was clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was very nice and portion was big enough. It might be a bit difficult to find the hotel, and the hotel is not close to a metro station. The hotel did not have any change for tourism dirham fee payment, so if you don’t want to pay more than required, prepare... More

I personally loved the place, it's not a hotel .. more of bed and breakfast.. the area around it makes you feel like you're in a different era.. There were some few point I hope the managment would take care of: improving the variety of breakfast- you're paying as much as you're for a 4 stars hotel-.. also room cleaning... More

For a very reasonable price a very romantic guest house in the old part of the town. The staff is nice and helpful, the rooms are all located around a courtyard where breakfast is served (which is good). The rooms are spacious enough for the price and have a romantic four poster. You can park your car for free at... More

We had a plesant three night stay at Orient Guest House. In the "old" part of town, this is not the ritzy Dubai most picture, but we found it more interesting, if very hot! Head out after dark when it's cooler and grab some street food with the locals. The room was clean enough, though the headboard could certainly use... More

A great choice of hotel if you are looking for a more down to earth stay. The staff are so nice and helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and interestingly decorated. Loved the wooden furniture. Our visit was in August and I didn't realise how hot it would be in Dubai. Maybe I would have picked a glitzy place... More

We stayed for a night during a stopover on the way to Turkey from Australia. We wanted something a little different to the usual "bling" of Dubai and this place did not disappoint. The guest house is part of an old residential area in Bur Dubai (the old town). It is reminiscent of a caravanserai style accommodation. Dubai creek is... More

Staying in The Creek

Neighborhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
