We were looking for a long weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Abu Dhabi and we found exactly what we were looking for at Bab Al Shams. The resort is tucked away in the middle of nowhere! About 45 minutes from Dubai and an hour from Abu Dhabi. Upon arrival you are greeted by a small complex created... more

I had concerns about this place after reading the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The purpose of the 2 night break was to have quiet family time by the pool and that's exactly what we got. When it got too hot we just hung out in the kid's club. All the staff were helpful and happy. They were all... more

We enjoyed a really lovely 2-night stay at the Bab Al Shams desert resort including a gorgeous aromatherapy massage. Could happily have stayed a few more days, had it not been so ridiculously hot, as there is plenty to do. Hell, there's even an aerobics studio. Surrounded by sand, this hotel - which feels more like a Moroccan Kasbah -... more

We booked a 3 night stay at Bab al Shams to enjoy the silence and beauty of the desert. As we arrived we immediately could feel the "Disneyland-style" of this resort. The room was ok, but not worth the 400 Euro we had to pay for, the whole pool area was smaller than expected and they overloaded the area with... more

The resort, the food and the service do not justify the star rating or prices. The service is slow, they have security around the pool area which is really off putting, they don't have a clue. We have stayed in a number of 5* properties all over the middle east and the rest of the world. The prices at Bab... more

The setting is beautiful, accomodation is OK, food choice limited, and the service absolutely terrible. Arriving on the first morning at 8am, after an overnight flight, we had pre - requested early check in, this didn't happen. We didn't get into all of our rooms until 3pm. Requested a bottle of champagne to go with breakfast at 10.30am - we... more

Did 2 nights here after reading about the Al Maha but not quite able to justify that expense....maybe someday! I have never stayed in the desert before but would come back here in a heartbeat. Loved the traditional decor all around. Special mention must go to the pool area, one of the best I have ever experienced. It looked quite... more

Situated in the middle of the desert, a beautiful hotel. the architecture is very very good. the rooms were cozy, with internet facilities. i was not very happy with the food at the hotel or at the famous hadheera restaurant. when we visited hadheera it was packed and the service was not as good. the kids club was a disappointment... more

We had been out to the Al Hadheera restaurant in 2005 and had a wonderful evening and vowed to come back some time. It was my husband's 60th birthday so I chose to take him here for a romantic weekend with nice food and wine. The setting and accommodation were first class but the food was a major disappointment. We... more
