Just returned from a stay at Le Royal Meridien, where we've stayed many times over the last 8/9 years. For the first time, we were disappointed. Spent 5 nights at the Royal Meridien last week. The hotel is completely surrounded on the land side by massive construction work 24x7 - huge concrete carcasses of high rise apartment buildings. I don't want to spoil the party but I can hardly believe I stayed in the same hotel as some the other people who wrote recent reviews. My impressions were - The hotel is very dated, even though it's not that old. The 'deluxe room' was small, dark and worn. The bathroom had a mouldy shower curtain over the bath.... more
