We stayed at Iran Hotel for three days in late April, 2009. The first thing we liked about it was that all rates were prominently displayed in English. The price for a double ensuite, around 35 dollars, is very reasonable for the size of room we got. The room was on the first floor, and for some reason the street below got very noisy around 10pm, but the sound died down after 11 at night. The breakfast, unfortunately, was unsatisfactory.
The hotel is owned by the Soltani brothers, three of them. The eldest has very little English, the middle one speaks it fairly fluently and is helpful in a laconic way. He made reservations for us on the phone for a bus journey to Tehran. The youngest brother 'Sam' Soltani is the friendliest of all, and eager to assist with any difficulties you might face.
Iran Hotel has no outstanding qualities to recommend it but, in a town where hotels are often booked up in peak season, it's worth keeping this clean, good value, friendly, well located...
