In a typical Lebanese house, the hotel is not modern, but clean, spacious areas available. In summer it is cool and well ventilated. The owner is really nice and caring. The price is cheap. Giuse Italy

Great Hotel with friendly owner. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable and the showers very nice with power and heat. the rooms are airy with high ceilings, there isnt AC but the fan kept us cool all night. Its close to everything and Zahle is a great place to visit in General.

We stayed here for three nights in a twin room with ensuite and used the hotel as a base to explore the valley. Although it's centrally located to the town and shops, it's a bit of a walk (especially in the rain) to the roundabout where the minivans going between Baalbek and Beirut stop. Funnily enough, a taxi from the... More

The hotel could use some renovations. The rooms are old but clean. We were there in October and it was freezing, no heating system was working. the satff wqas friendly although did the minimum required. If you are only in town for one night, I guess AKL is a good middle range option.

We stayed here as the Grand Hotel Kadri was closed. Hotel Akl is more in the middle range, but a perfectly good place to spend a night while you're on the road, as we did. The lobby is nice and, as they say, oozes period charm. Our room (on the first floor on the backside) was not very cosy but... More

This timeworn mansion in central Zahle was the nicest little budget hotel on our entire trip to Middle East in August 2010. It actually felt more like a family home than a hotel. I liked the lovingly preserved rough edges and the simple old furniture. Paint hasn't been used in the last years unless absolutely necessary. We had a nice... More

Maybe it was the cold spring weather, or the lack of any atmosphere in Zahle at this time of year, but this hotel did not have the charm that so many other reviewers afforded it in their critiques. It is indeed well situated right along the river cutting through Zahle and among many beautiful old mansions. This great old mansion... More

Just had a great stay at Hotel Akl- wonderful place to base if you're wanting to see Zahle, the Ksara winery, Baalbeck, or Aanjar, or even Beittadine Palace. The hotel is very beautiful, an old mansion-turned-hotel, run by a French woman. They have a restaurant but also don't mind if you bring in your own food. We loved our stay... More

Hotel Akl was a pleasant surprise, as in the LP guidebook it doesn't have a great review. I found the hotel to be very clean ( the shared bathroom was possibly the cleanest I've seen so far), my room was great if a little noisy due to facing onto the street and the staff very welcoming and helpful. $20 USD... I stayed at the Akl for just one night in mid-June as I was passing Zahle en route to Damascus, and I ought to give it five stars given its décor, atmosphere and price (35 USD a night for one person in a twin-room), but two things marked it down. First, I saw a little mouse in the hallway by... More
