We stayed for 2 nights. Room was very basic but comfortable and had TV, aircon and a fridge. We only used it as a place to sleep as we used it as a base to travel to Palmyra and Homs. It is more like a youth hostel than a hotel but was great value fo what you pay and the... more

We stayed here in Sept 2009. The hotel is situated in the centre of Hama, not far from the river and the wonderful wheels. We walked from the bus station. This takes about 20 minutes. On arriving, I was shown numerous rooms with different prices. Some rooms had 1 double bed others 2 single beds. We opted for a 1000... more

The Cairo is a youth hostel really, both in function and clientele. However, that's not a complaint. It's not an especially attractive building or interior but it's well-located in the town centre, has a good standard of hygiene and is good value-for-money. The staff are friendly enough and organise tours at a decent price. If you're a backpacker travelling solo... more

Good budget choice from limited options in Hama. Room was clean and airy although bathroom was a bit dark and damp. Reception staff were very welcoming and had a dry sense of humour. More of a hostel than a hotel (although no communal kitchen). Handy to have a balcony - good idea to request this when booking. We stayed three... more

An excellent place to stay in Hama. all the taxi drivers from the bus station knew of riyad hotel so just ask them to take you there and it's right next door. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, tv with satellite, ensuite with a european toilet!! Friendly staff who change money at a good rate (which was useful given that... more

The rooms were small but clean. Clean sheets and a clean bathroom. Rooms had a small fridge in them. We took an interior room because it was quieter than the street side ones. Interiors have no view and look down into an interior space (not a courtyard). A/C worked fine. Staff was helpfull and set up a car hire for... more

Don't let the ratings fool you- the place was not very clean and they gave my husband and I a room with two single beds, instead of a double. The shower and garbage bin were a bit disgusting. However, for what we paid, it was worth one night. Also, and the reason I rated this as average rather than poor,... more

This hotel has basic rooms but they are very clean and great value for money. The reception staff are friendly and they made us feel very welcome. We have a young son and he was also very welcome. They can organise tours for you from the hotel and also suggest things to do, places to eat etc. Overall a great... more

I turned up without a booking and was offered one room with a nice big double bed and an en-suite or a shared dorm type room. I splashed out and went for the private double, although when I say 'splashed out' it didn't cost me the earth. The room was fairly basic, but did include a tv. My room was... more

We stayed here for a couple of nights in May. The guys on the desk were really helpful and friendly. They organised a taxi for our day trip to Krak de Chevaliers and Afamia, which seemed quite reasonable. Good clean budget hotel, in decent location and when they served real bread rolls for breakfast I was overjoyed (I'd been ill... more
