Probably the worst entrance approach for accommodation ever, but once you get inside there are lots of pleasant surprises. Like an "atrium" area to lounge about in. Adequate clean rooms at the right price {we even had a fridge and a balcony, but you probably need to ask for it} BUT, it is right in the thick of things and... more

We had booked three months in advance but the owner claimed he hadn't a room for the first night of out three night stay. He put us across the road in a dump without hot water, locks, toilet paper or towels.. I know that this is not the first time he has done this. There was no apology or compensation.... more

Nice and friendly staff (Ahmed) who will most likely offer you free tea. Has some basis rooms for 600 or 700 SP a room (twee beds). Great deal for the budget traveller! Also is there a roof terrace where it's also possible to sleep! From the rooftop you'll have a nice view on the Citadel in the Old City. Hotel... more

no towels no loo paper no air con (it didn't work) in heat of over 40% How lonely planet can recommend this place beggars belief. On arrival we were asked "where you from" the response to our answer was "oh I hate the english". This encouraged us only to stay for one night and it was a night too much.... more

The service here was great. The room was booked for me with the help of the staff at the Cairo hotel in Hama which was handy. There was a cup of tea for me as soon as I arrived and it was much needed after a hairy 20 minute taxi ride through Aleppo. The staff couldn't do enough for me... more

I stayed in Al-Gawaher for two days and I liked it a lot. It's located in a very central place, close to the clock tower. I especially liked the staff (they were genuinely friendly and helpful) and the great atmosphere in this hotel. Drinking tea on the roof terrace of al-Gawaher... no better way to relax after a great day... more

Did someone say "towels"!? Dirty or not, I saw none of these, it would also have been a blessing to realise they don't supply toilet paper before sitting down! Its not clean, it is central and the staff are welcoming but whether its worth it I'm not sure. If you cant find loo roll in the souk, you may wish... more

clean, neat little hotel, with simple rooms and comfy beds. Friendly management. The location is absolutely great- right in the centre of things, but being down a small alley keeps the noise down. Highly recommended. more
